Huge Makeup & Skincare Declutter | 60+ Products Gone December 28, 2019
I prefer to work through products rather than tossing things out. However, it is super hard to work through certain types of products. In particular, it is hard to work through powder products. As a result, sometimes decluttering is necessary. If you’re interested to read about my huge makeup & skincare declutter, keep reading to see the 60+ products I decluttered this season.
Huge Makeup & Skincare Declutter
Please note, I’ve already found new homes or tossed some of the beauty products I decluttered this season. As a result, not all items are featured in my photos. Wherever possible, I try to re-home products (that are not expired).
Also, I calculate the value of my collection based on what each product is actually worth as opposed to the money that I spent. In other words, I list the value at the full retail price (not the price I paid). Therefore, freebies and sample values are included wherever possible.

Decluttered Makeup
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Dip Brow Gel Pomade | $18.00, CF
For the last nine months, I’ve struggled to get along with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Gel Pomade. The brow gel is unreliable – it smudges and it is easy to go overboard. I realized that every time I used this brow gel more than two days in a row, my eyebrows would break out horribly.
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Riviera Palette | $45.00, CF – now discontinued
*GASP* Believe it or not, there is something about the Riviera Palette that hasn’t quite clicked with me. The colors are beautiful, but in the nine months that I’ve owned this palette, I’ve seldom reached for it except to swatch it and to take photos. Check out my Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette ranking.
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Master Palette by Mario | $45.00, CF
It pains me to declutter my Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette. However, it was time. I owned this palette for more than 3 years and it is well-loved. Nevertheless, the formula is not the same as it used to be. If this were a permanent palette, I would buy another one.
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Modern Renaissance | $42.00, CF
The Modern Renaissance* is one of my most well-loved eyeshadow palettes even if it doesn’t translate that way in the photo. This palette is more than 3 years old. Sadly, the formula has not held up well with time. I am considering repurchasing this palette, but I am going to give it some time.
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Liquid Lipstick | $20.00, CF
I received the Crush Liquid Lipstick* from Anastasia Beverly Hills at Beautycon LA ’18. Sadly, this liquid lipstick went bad. In fact, smelled like a putrid chemical when I opened it.
bareMinerals – Gen Nude Liquid Lipsticks (Juju & Swank) | $18.00 each, CF
The bareMinerals Gen Nude Liquid Lipsticks are one of my favorite liquid lipstick formulas. These are creamy, comfortable liquid lipsticks. However, these are now approximately 4 years old. I cannot remember the last time I used Juju* or Swank.* Check out my liquid lipstick ranking.
Bite Beauty – Amuse Bouche Lipstick Chai | $12.00, CF – now discontinued
I received this mini Amuse Bouche Lipstick in a Sephora birthday gift. However, I haven’t used this in the last year I’ve owned it. I don’t reach for lipsticks this tiny. Instead, see the nude lipsticks in my collection.
Bite Beauty – Mini Multistick (Cashew) | TBD, CF – now discontinued
I’ve owned the Bite Beauty Mini Multistick in the shade Cashew since receiving it in a Sephora Play Subscription Box in 2016. In the four years, I’ve owned this multi stick, I’ve never used it.

No brand was safe from my huge Fall Beauty Declutter!
Bobbi Brown – Crystal Drama 12-Color Eyeshadow Palette | $59.00 – now discontinued
Although I love purple shadows I do NOT need the Crystal Dream palette. I should never have purchased it. The color story is beautiful, but I’ve reached the point where looking at my collection actually makes me feel uneasy. Before touching this palette or letting it sit for too long, I’ve decided to let this go.
ColourPop x Disney Villains Super Shock Highlighter (2x) | $10.00 each, CF – now discontinued
I never reached for the ColourPop x Disney Villains Super Shock Highlighters. While I really like the Super Shock Highlighter formula, I did not enjoy the duo-chrome effect of the Disney Villains highlighters. Read my in-depth review on the ColourPop x Disney Villains collection. I am decluttering Poor Unfortunate Souls and You Idiots! You Fools! You Imbeciles!
ColourPop x Disney Villains Ultra Glossy Lips (2x) | $8.00 each, CF
Similarly to the Villains highlighters, I never vibed with the Ultra Glossy Lips. The formula is dry and sticky. Also, I dislike the brush tip applicator. I am decluttering the shades My Pet and Sad But True. Instead, read about the lip glosses that I love in my lip gloss ranking.
ColourPop – So Juicy Lip Gloss (for the Clout) | $7.00, CF
The hype surrounding the So Juicy Lip Gloss launch was unreal. Sadly, I never use my So Juicy Gloss. The formula is sticky and drying. I thought about forcing myself to use this, but I would never reach for this over the similar shades I own from Persona or Fenty.
Read my review on the Persona Season One Lip Glosses.
Dominique Cosmetics – Celestial Thunder | $35.00, CF
I was extremely upset to receive the Celestial Thunder palette in my November Boxycharm. The palette is so stunning, but I already own the full-size version of this palette (the Celestial Storm*). This is another untouched item that I’m letting go of.
e.l.f. Cosmetics – Opposite Attracts Eyeshadow Palette | $14.99, CF
I’ve owned the e.l.f. Opposite Attracts Eyeshadow Palette* for months and didn’t reach for it once. Ultimately, it was time to let this go. Instead, read my review of the e.l.f. Cosmetics Bite Size Palettes.
Joah Be My Everything Blush & Bronze | $14.50, CF
I received Joah’s Be My Everything Blush & Bronze at Beautycon LA. Although I enjoyed this bronzer for a time, I won’t reach for this over any of the other bronzers in my collection.
Jour Skinny Dip Palette | $40.00, CF – now discontinued
The Jouer Skinny Dip Palette did not last long in my collection. Ultimately, I realized I never reached for this palette. I wasn’t wowed by the performance of the shadows.
Laura Mercier – Nights Out Eyeshadow Palette | $58.00 – now discontinued
I recently purchased the Nights Out Eyeshadow Palette. If I really analyze this purchase, I bought this palette because I was not in a good emotional state.
I do not want to swatch the Nights Out palette only to use it once or twice. I’ve actually decided that I’m going to try to re-home this new palette.
L’OREAL Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick Les Chocolate Scented (Candy Man) | $9.99
I received the L’OREAL Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick Les Chocolate Scented* in the shade Candy Man at Beautycon LA. I swatches this once and never wore it. I need to stop doing this.
MAC Cosmetics – Eye and Face Palette (Warm) | $45.00
The MAC Cosmetics Eye and Face Palette was a purchase that I should never have made. Again, I’m a dummy and I swatched this palette one time.
MAC Cosmetics – Frost Lipstick (CB 96) | $19.00
I received the CB 96 Frost Lipstick* from MAC Cosmetics in my September Boxycharm box. The color and finish are NOT my styles.
Marc Jacobs – Provocative Blush (Shameless) | $38.00, CF – now discontinued
I received the Marc Jacobs Proactive Blush at a convention a couple of years ago. I never used this once. It was time to let this blush go.
Maybelline – Soda Pop Palette | $13.99
The Maybelline Soda Pop Palette was a palette that I lusted after, but I realized I would never use it in my collection. After months of owning it and not using it, I finally decided to let this go. Check out my affordable palette ranking, instead.
Melt Cosmetics – Blueprint Stack | $48.00, CF
The Melt Cosmetics Blueprint Stack was a major disappointment for me. I was hyped for this little blue and copper stack that kicked off this year’s blue eyeshadow trend. Sadly, the blue shades don’t last on my eyes so I reach for my $12.00 ColourPop Blue Moon Palette over this. Click here to read my Blueprint Stack Review or check out my Melt Cosmetics palette ranking.

Even new makeup products were ousted from my collection
Milani Cosmetics – Celestial Highlighter Palette | $19.99, CF
I fully regret purchasing the Celestial Highlighter Palette. If I’m being honest with myself, I know I purchased this item just to purchase it. However, the formula is 100% a dupe for the ColourPop Super Shock Formula, but the colors are too metallic for my taste in highlighters.
Check out my glowing highlighter ranking.
Milani Soft & Sultry Eyeshadow Palette | $19.99, CF
I realize that it is SHOCKING for me to declutter the Milani Soft & Sultry Palette. I enjoy this palette and gave the Soft & Sultry Palette a rave review. However, I NEVER reach for this over my higher end palettes. Therefore, it is time for this bad boy to go.
Milk Makeup – Holographic Highlighter Stick (Supernova) |$15.00, CF
I received the Milk Makeup Holographic Highlighter Stick in the shade Supernova* in last year’s holiday kit from the brand. Although I love the brand’s cream formula, I don’t tend to go for colorful highlighters like Supernova. Read my full thoughts on this highlighter and other cult-favorite products in my Milk Makeup review.
Ofra – Mini Treasure Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick | TBD, CF – now discontinued
The Ofra Mini Treasure Long Lasting Lipstick was a mini that I received in a kit along with a mini version of the Pillowtalk Highlighter. I bought the kit solely for the highlighter. While I used the mini-setting spray that came in my kit, the liquid lipstick went bad. Read about some Ofra products I love in my Ofra x Samantha March review or my Ofra Pillow Talk review.
Pixi Beauty – Mattelustre Lipstick (Bitten Rose & Pink Petal) | $7.99, CF
I received both the Bitten Rose* and Pink Petal* Mattelustre lipsticks at Beautycon LA and NYC, respectively. The formula of these lipsticks is fine, but these two lipsticks are not colors that I typically gravitate towards. Time to let them go. Read my bold lipstick ranking to learn about the bright colors I still own!
Pixi Beauty – RoseBronze Glitter-Y Quad | $14.00, CF
Pixi Beauty’s RozeBronze Glitter-Y Quad* isn’t a horrible pressed glitter palette. However, I just realized that I do not love pressed glitter. If I’m going to wear glitter, I’m going to reach for a liquid glitter. That being said, it was time for this to go!
Revlon – Super Lustrious Lip Gloss – Fatal Apple | $6.29
The Revlon Super Lustrious Lip Gloss was a freebie I received at Beautycon L.A. in 2018. Personally, I don’t wear red glosses like this so I didn’t want to use this once and toss it. I decided to finally declutter this shade.
Rimmel Magnif’eyes Eyeshadow Palette – Wow Edition | $14.96
I received the Rimmel Magnif’eyes Eyeshadow Palette as part of the make good that Beautycon sent after the issues at the NYC ’19 event. Given the size of my collection, I knew that I’d never use this palette. I decided just to declutter it.
Rude Cosmetics – Whatever Forever Palette | $20.00 USD, CF
I was initially excited to purchase the Rude Cosmetics Whatever Forever Palette at Beautycon NYC. However, I don’t reach for this palette. Instead, I reach for other colorful palettes. Therefore, I decided to let this go while it was still in good condition.
Rimmel London – Scandaleyes Wow Wings Mascara | $6.00
There is very little from Rimmel that I’ve tried. Sadly, I do not love the Scandalizes Wow Wings Mascara. Not only do I find the wand strange, but the mascara causes my lashes to stick together and this formula smudges so easily. Rather than forcing myself to use this up, I decided to just let it go.
Tarte – Make Magic Happen Eyeshadow Palette | $36.00, CF
Again, I should never have purchased this palette from Tarte because I didn’t need this. Also, I sadly swatched this palette once.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – Crank | $18.00, CF
I received the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Crank as a gift a year or so ago; however, I just don’t wear bright lip colors like this anymore. There was once a time that I did rock colors like this, but I’ve never worn this lipstick. It was time to go.
Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow Palette | $29.00, CF
The Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow Palette isn’t a bad color story, but I just don’t need this palette. The Essentials Palette isn’t unique to anything in my collection. I am hoping to re-home this completely untouched.

No room for expired products in 2020
Decluttered Skincare
Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream | $74.00, CF
The Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream* was a must-have release last winter. This is a high-power retinol cream that needs to be applied with a buffer, like a thick night cream, only one to two times a week. While I did enjoy this cream, I didn’t see any noticeable results. I’d rather use a nightly glycolic serum over a product like this. Therefore, I am not planning to repurchase at this time.
Drunk Elephant – T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Serum | $90.00, CF
The Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Serum* is a staple in my skincare routine. However, I struggle to finish an entire bottle within a year’s time.
Drunk Elephant Tsukari Baby Facial | $80.00, CF
Despite yearning for this skincare goodie for some time and receiving it as a gift, I rarely reached for the Drunk Elephant Sukari Baby Facial.* Unlike other masks in my collection, the Baby Facial has a strong formula that can only be used once a week and should not be used in conjunction with any chemical exfoliants. Sadly, I never remember to reach for this mask and it expired.
Korres Firming & Antiwrinkle Body Butter | $5.99, CF – now discontinued
I purchased the Korres Firming & Antiwrinkle Body Butter at Marshalls earlier this year. Sadly, I do not like this body butter because it did not soak into the skin properly.
Sol Body – Soft Gold Dry Body Oil | $15.00, CF
The more I tried the Sol Body Dry Body Oil, the more I disliked this product. The glitter transfers and it is hard to fully remove the from the skin. Plus, as shallow as this seems, I can’t stand seeing the way the glitter and oil separate in the bottle. I wish this was more of a luminizer than oil with glitter infused. Read my full review on the Sol Body Dry Body Oil.

Old haircare finally had to go in the bin
Decluttered Haircare
Okay, okay. This might be a huge makeup & skincare declutter, but I move a few haircare items out of my collection, too.
Castor Oil
I purchased this bottle of castor oil well over a year ago and seldom reach for it. I highly doubt that I ever will reach for this, so it was finally time for this to go to the bin.
Love Beauty and Planet – Coconut Milk & White Jasmine Hairspray | $6.99, CF
I received the Love Beauty and Planet Coconut Milk & White Jasmine Hairspray* at Beautycon NYC this past year in my Hauler Bag. While I like that this hairspray is not an aerosol, this spray did not work well on my hair.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Styling Treatment | $27.00, CF
Sadly, I realized this Living Proof Perfect Hair Styling Treatment was more than two years old. At this point, I’ve realized I won’t reach for this and it is time to toss this styler into the trash can.
Purgatory Products
Within this my huge makeup & skincare declutter, there was one product that I keep changing my mind about keeping. As a result, I’ve put this product in “purgatory” and will decide whether or not I want to keep it as the year progresses.
ColourPop x iluvsarahii Through My Eyes Palette | $23.00, CF
Given that iluvsarahii is one of my favorites on YouTube, I wanted to love the Through My Eyes palette so badly. However, I am sad that this palette never became a “love” for me. Knowing how big my collection is right now, I felt like it was time to let this go. Check out my review of the Through My Eyes Palette.
Decluttered Products: 61
Decluttered Product Value: $1,418.44
Final Thoughts on my Huge Makeup & Skincare Declutter
Unlike previous quarters this year, I finally feel like I’m starting to make headway with reducing the size of my collection. I’m proud to share my huge makeup & skincare declutter because it shows that I’m detaching myself from material items. Over the course of the Fall Season, I decluttered or finished 59 products valued at $1,207.44.
When I started the quarter, I had 414 products valued at $9.1K. At this point in the year, I own 505 products valued at $12.5K, a 22% increase in volume and a 26% increase in value compared to last quarter.
Why Did My Collection Grow
- A ton was gifted to me | Both my birthday and Christmas occurred during the Q4 period, so I was gifted a number of items and a few more items will still be arriving post-Christmas.
- No Buy Panic Set In | Right before my No Buy started, I panic purchased a ton of products knowing I’d be unable to buy new makeup within the color cosmetics category for quite some time.
- $350 USD+ came in my Boxycharm Subscription | I joined Boxycharm in early September. Therefore, I receive 5 full-size products a month now. Although I pay only $25 per box, I include the full retail value of the products in my spreadsheet.
- I found tons of lost products & products I forgot that I purchased | I feel embarrassed typing this out, but I own so much makeup that there are quite a few products that I didn’t even realize that I owned. As a result, these items were added to my spreadsheet recently.
I expect the volume and value of my collection to continue to decrease as I will hopefully finish many more products. Inevitably, I expect 2020 will be a big year of decluttering. I typically declutter much more during periods where I am trying to spend less. This happens naturally as I have more time to figure out just how much I enjoy certain formulas or products.

This is quite the declutter! I did a smaller version of this before we moved over the summer and it was liberating lol
omg “liberating” is a wonderful way to describe decluttering!! I’m planning to move at some point in 2020, so I knew I needed to start decluttering now!!
Girl, I’m so proud of you!! This declutter session has been insane! You absolutely did great ❤️ I should follow your example
Ah thank you, girl! I finally had enough and needed to really go through things! Hoping to be just as good at decluttering this upcoming year, too.
I love decluttering make up! You look like you did amazing and had a proper deck utter session though! 😊 x
I felt really proud after this decluttering – I made some tough decisions and hopefully I’ll be just as brutal moving forward!
Wow girl, I am proud that you did so great with decluttering. Such an amazing start to 2020. 🙂
Ah thank you so much!! Def a good way to end this year/start next year!
Wow, you decluttered so many products, that’s awesome! I really need to go through my makeup collection and get rid of the things I no longer use. It would be great to do this right before the new year so I can start off more organized!
I did this right before updating my inventory sheet (LOL I feel silly saying it but I own so much so I need it) and it felt good!
This inspired me to do a well needed declutter
goodluck!! 🙂
Thanks!
