Diary of a Beauty Addict Tag | Makeup Regrets? March 24, 2020
Not only am I a beauty addict, but I’m a beauty addict who is obsessed with introspective beauty tags on YouTube. I was fascinated when I saw one of my faves, MakeMeUpMissa, reflect on her 2019 purchases through her Diary of a Beauty Addict Tag.
As you guys know, I love doing beauty tags that no one tagged me in lol. BUT I was even more excited when one of my blogging besties, the lovely Alex of AlexandriaKayWrites tagged me in her post responding to the Diary of a Beauty Addict Tag.
If you’re interested to read my answers to the Diary of a Beauty Addict Tag, please keep reading.

One of my last major beauty hauls
Diary of a Beauty Addict Tag
How much money did you spend on makeup in 2019?
LOL, I’m not going to disclose that number. However, I will say that this number is skewed due to a few particularly brutal months of spending insanity during sale periods. 2020 has been WAY better for me!
What is the best product you bought in 2019?
The best product that I bought in 2019 was the Melt Cosmetics Amor Eterno Muerte Eyeshadow Palette. Without a doubt, this collection was one of the most well-executed, and well-thought releases of 2019. The Muerte Palette’s unique color story just speaks to my soul. Read my full review of the Melt Cosmetics Amore Eterno Muerte Palette.
Honorable mention: ColourPop’s Sweet Talk Palette that launched in 2019 that truly captured my heart. This is another interesting, well-executed, and high-quality product. Read my full review of the ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette.

What is one thing you wish you hadn’t bought in 2019?
Anytime I shopped after 12:00 AM. I realized that when I anxiety keeps me up at night that I turn to online shopping as a coping mechanism. I buy just to buy and not because I need something.
I wish many of my late night shopping sessions never happened in 2019. As a result of these shopping sprees there a few palettes that I actually decluttered before I even opened them. Check out some of the products I decluttered at the end of 2019 in this post.
Do you buy makeup that you don’t need because you feel pressured to keep up?
No. I buy makeup that I don’t need because I am obsessed with the beauty industry. I don’t feel pressured to keep up, but I do feel temptation from social media.
If you’re curious to see a bunch of products that the digital world influenced me to buy then check out the products that a beauty guru, a beauty blogger, Facebook and Instagram, and Youtube influenced me to buy.
How many eyeshadow palettes have you bought last year and have you used them all?
I plead the fifth on this one. I have over 100 eyeshadow palettes (including duos, quads, etc.). Clearly, I have not gotten a chance to use everything yet. However, I am slowly working my way through each product.
As a blogger, I write reviews on many of these eyeshadow palettes. It takes me a while to test a product thoroughly enough to feel comfortable writing a review.
If you could only keep 5 products that you currently own in 2020, what would they be?
- KKW Beauty – Powder Contour & Highlighter Palette in Light ($44.00, CF)
- Milk Makeup – KUSH High Volume Mascara in Blackest Black ($24.00, CF)
- Tatcha – Silk Canvas Primer ($54.00, CF)
- Thrive Causemetics – Waterproof Brow Liner Pencil in Serena ($23.00, CF)
- Too Faced – Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer ($29.00, CF)

Have you hit pan on anything you’ve bought in 2019?
I have an entire series of posts where I share the products that I’ve finished throughout 2019 – check out my Winter ’19, Spring ’19, Summer ’19, and Fall ’19 empties posts. That being said, the bulk of these products are skincare and haircare rather than makeup.
Strictly speaking about makeup, in 2019 I hit pan on one of the Super Shock Shadows that I purchased in 2019 (ColourPop’s Frog).
What are your favorite and least favorite brands of 2019?
- Favorites: ColourPop, Fenty Beauty, Huda Beauty, Milk Makeup, Melt Cosmetics
- Least Favorites: Jaclyn Cosmetics, Morphe, Makeup Revolution
Be honest, are you a makeup snob?
I am not a makeup snob. I may spend a lot on makeup, but I spend money on affordable brands and luxury brands. Price does not determine quality.
That being said, I do not buy from knock-off brands (both legal and illegal ones). I do not support brands that fully copy another brand’s product design.
How many eyeshadow palettes do you currently own?
I own 100+ palettes – including face palettes, eye palettes, duos, and quads.

This was so fun, LP! I am also excited that your 2020 has been a better year for spending so far! I had been doing better too and then the Coronavirus hit – and stores emptied – and somehow I had been trying to ignore the news because it overwhelms me…well, I was left unprepared and then overspent on food, cleaning stuff, cat food, etc. to compensate. Ugh. But we can always start over! 😂 Anyway, fun tag. I hope you are well and having a good week.
The virus has def impacted spending – both in terms of needing to pick up essentials when you can find them, but also in terms of being tempted by the insane load of sales or promos going on right now. Hope you are staying safe!
This is so fun and I’ve just realized I’m a bit of a makeup snob, I like drugstore stuff but pretty much my entire day-to-day makeup bag is expensive at the moment ahahha, fancy makeup is not always better but it makes me feel special and id it’s good, that’s even better
Luxury makeup is definitely an experience. I don’t think that price is a determinant of quality when it comes to makeup (especially when you look at what brands like ColourPop and e.l.f. are capable of producing). But I totally agree with you that luxury makeup can contribute to an overall more luxurious experience that makes you feel pampered!!
I would keep the Milk Mascara too!!
It is one of my all-time favorites!
Same!
Loved reading your answers! I think it’s beautiful how devoted you are to makeup. It is your passion. No one should ever make you feel bad for spending money on makeup. If anything, I think it’s an investment to your blog and brand.
Much love always,

Aw thank you so much for this sweet comment, girl! I think I need to remember this sometimes, too. I shouldn’t punish myself because my passion is not as conventional as others!
This was a fun tag to read! I’m glad to hear that 2020 has been going well for you spending-wise! ColourPop is one of my favorite brands too, and Melt Cosmetics is pretty much at the top of my list of brands that I need to try.
ColourPop is such a fun (and addictive) brand! Melt Cosmetics is one of my favorites right now, too!!
I love reading about different makeup products from you! I have a habit of sticking to one brand, so it is nice to learn about other brands and how they work. I am still in love with your eyeshadow collection! You have combinations for every event possible, hehe. Thanks for sharing the beauty tag!

It’s totally normal to favor a brand that makes products that appeal to you and meet you needs when it comes to beauty. There are def brands that consistently appeal to me, but I just love beauty so much that I’m constantly wanting to try new formulas, too! I wish brands made that easier by releasing more minis!
