To be honest, sharing my overboard luxury beauty haul makes me cringe. Clearly, I online shopping became my go-to coping mechanism for dealing with negative emotions like anxiety – a clear indicator of an unhealthy relationship with shopping and makeup buying.
Nevertheless, I hope that someone can learn from me sharing my past mistakes. Keep reading for my embarrassing, overboard luxury beauty haul.

Indie & Influencer Brands
bh Cosmetics – Glam Reflection Eyeshadow Palettes – Gilded & Rose | $18.00, CF
When I saw that bh Cosmetics was running a 40% off sale, I thought it was the perfect time to pick something up from this ultra-affordable brand. More specifically, I thought this was the perfect time to pick up a couple of the Glam Reflections Palettes I’ve been longing to try. Given that no one really talked about these palettes much online, I hesitated to try these. However, the allure of the 40% off sale moved me to purchase Gilded and Rose palettes. (sale price: $10.80 each)
bh Cosmetics Glam Reflections Rosee & Gilded Eyeshadow Palettes
Dominique Cosmetics – Latte & Berries and Cream Palettes | $42.00-$44.00, CF
Even though I don’t watch Christen Dominique on YouTube, her eyeshadow palettes have always grab my attention. However, I found myself constantly adding and removing her products from my online shopping carts.
Having purchased the Celestial Storm Palette* earlier in the month, I picked up the Latte* and Berries & Cream Palettes* during her 25% Off Sale. T(sale price: $31.50 and $33.00)
Give Me Glow Cosmetics – Summer Vibes Palette | $54.00, CF
Give Me Glow Cosmetics is a super hot indie brand amongst major beauty fanatics. The brand’s palettes and singles are constantly in-and-out of stock online.
In fact, often times fans need to wait months to purchase the item on their wish list. The Summer Vibes Palette has been on my lust list for months but was consistently out of stock, so I jumped at the chance to buy this when I saw it was suddenly back in stock.
P.S. The pan sizes are huge – think Juvia’s Place Warrior Palette size.
Give Me Glow Cosmetics Singles & Summer Vibes Palette
Give Me Glow Cosmetics – Pink Singles | $63.00, CF
Honestly, I have no excuse for wanting to grab these shadows other than the fact that the pink shades had me entranced. I know I don’t own similar shades and have been really keen to try this brand, so I added a bunch of singles to my cart.
Shades I grabbed: Bubblegum, Strawberry Lollipop, Raspberry Cheesecake, Flamingo, At the Beach, Adorbs (discontinued), Sweet Bitch, Princess Pink, and Not You, Next.
Menagerie Cosmetics Violet Ink Micro Palette
Menagerie Cosmetics – Violet Ink Micro Palette |$19.99, CF
Like the Give Me Glow Palette, I’ve been stalking the Violet Ink Micro Palette for some time due to the unique cool-toned, bluish undertone of the purple shadows in this palette. Unlike other popular purple palettes that lean brown or pink, this palette has a blue undertone.
This palette has been out of stock for months. Therefore I jumped at my opportunity to pick this little 6-pan palette up. Read my full Violet Ink Micro Palette review.
Off-Price Retailers
Bobbi Brown – Crystal Drama 12-Color Eyeshadow Palette | $59.00
I fully recognize that this palette, along with two others on this list, were purchased when I was in a frantic mindset where I felt I needed to buy something. Typically, when I’m looking at flash sale or discount sites, I am in that state of mind.
As a purple shadow lover, I *couldn’t resist* [eye roll] the Crystal Drama Palette at the steeply discount price of $24.97.
[Edit – 6/2020: Ultimately, I decluttered this palette before using it!]
Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays | $48.00
When I initially found the Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette at Marshalls, I was hoping to purchase this little 6-pan palette. Sadly, someone decided to swatch the shadows so I missed out on this little gem. After finding this online, at a steep discount, I jumped at the chance to purchase this palette. (sale price: $24.97)
Tarte – Make Magic Happen Eyeshadow Palette | $36.00, CF
Did I need this palette? Hell no. But did I want this palette? Hell yeah.
As basic as this palette is, there is something about the Make Magic Happen Eyeshadow Palette that spoke to me. After seeing this online and watching review after review online, I couldn’t get this ultra neutral palette out of my mind. At the $18.97 price point, I couldn’t resist.
[Edit – 6/2020: Ultimately, I decluttered this palette before using it!]
Sephora
Fenty Beauty – Flyliner Longwear Liquid Liner | $22.00, CF
For a while, I felt uncomfortable purchasing my holy grail liquid eyeliner, so I purchased the Fenty Beauty Flyliner with the hopes that it would be just as good. I enjoy the Flyliner, but I still prefer previous favorite.
Hourglass – Mini Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light | $24.00, CF
Back in 2015, I purchased one of Hourglass’s well-loved holiday face palettes. However, at the time I wasn’t certain how to use these luxurious powders. I cringe thinking about myself decluttering that palette.
Having said the above, I now understand the purpose of a finishing powder. Longing to try the Hourglass formula again, I picked up a mini version of the Diffused Light Powder.*
Huda Beauty – Lip Contour Set | $25.00, CF
I am a major fan of Huda Beauty, particularly the brand’s eyeshadows. I’ve even ranked all my Huda Palettes!
Although liquid lipsticks and lashes were the brand’s first products, I never tried either. I was thrilled to find a Huda Lip Contour Kit at Sephora. Products included are two mini liquid lipsticks in Spice Girl* and Venus,* as well as the Spice Girl Lip Liner.* See where I ranked these in my liquid lipstick ranking for dry lips.
NARS – Mini Voyageur Palette (Copper) | $32.00 – now discontinued
Honestly, I had no excuse for buying NARS’ mini Copper Voyageur Palette. However, I longed to try this mini 6-pan after watching Jessica Braun rave the Suede Palette.
In hindsight, I wish I picked up the Suede Palette over the Copper Palette. The Juvia’s Place Nubian Palette and Huda Topaz Obsessions* palettes are comparable dupes at a more affordable price point.
Huge Luxury Sephora Haul | Natasha Denona, Hourglass, NARS, Pat McGrath. Too Faced, Huda Beauty
Natasha Denona – Camel Eyeshadow Palette | $48.00, CF
I blame myself (and Simone @ Beautymone) for this purchase of the Natasha Denona Camel Palette.* After reading her review and seeing the swatches of these grungy, cool-toned neutrals I longed to try this palette. Sadly, the Natasha Denona Camel Palette did not perform the way that I anticipated.
Natasha Denona – Cranberry Eyeshadow Palette | $48.00, CF
I blame myself (and Mel Thompson) for this particular purchase. I made the mistake of watching Mel’s video ranking of her Natasha Denona Palette collection. Although Mel noted some flaws in the Cranberry Palette, I truly lusted after this 5-pan Cranberry palette.* However, I came to the realization that this 5-pan palette is essentially a condensed version of the Natasha Denona Sunrise Palette.
Natasha Denona – Mini Blush & Glow, Mini Bronze & Glow, Mini Diamond & Glow | $19.00 each, CF
Clearly, I lost my mind when I decided that I ‘needed’ to purchase all three of these mini duos from Natasha Denona. I picked up the Mini Blush & Glow,* Mini Bronze & Glow,* and Mini Diamond & Glow.*
Within a few months of owning these little duos, I decluttered all of them. Ultimately, the performance was underwhelming and the formulas were not my favorite. Check out my favorite face palettes in my face palette ranking.
Pat McGrath Labs Mini Lust Gloss Trio | $25.00, CF
I picked up this trio as a consolation prize (of sorts). At the time, I could not bring myself to grab Pat McGrath’s Holiday Quads* at the $65.00 price point.
I don’t own many dark gloss shades, the Lust Gloss Trio* filled a gap in my collection. The glosses included within this kit are Bronze Seduction, Flesh Fantasy,* and Flesh 4.* See where these glosses landed in my lip gloss ranking.
Too Faced – Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer (Honey) | $29.00
Again, I have no valid excuse for picking up another shade of the Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concear. In fact, if this weren’t on sale, I am certain that I would not have purchased it.
I purchased the shade Honey* as a contouring shade; however, as of 6/2020, I have yet to use this concealer for contouring. (sale price: $23.20)
Urban Decay Sale
Urban Decay Friends & Fanatics Sale Haul
Urban Decay – Naked Honey Palette | $49.00, CF
To be candid, the original promo images for the Naked Honey Palette* could not have been any less appealing to me. I thought the palette was boring and that Urban Decay was late to party, again.
However, once I started seeing influencers using this palette, I was gobsmacked. It seemed like everyone who purchased this palette or received this palette in PR raved about this palette and created beautiful demonstration looks online. If you’re interested in watching some reviews – iLuvSarahii, RawBeautyKristi, and Mel Thompson.
Check out my Naked Honey Palette review or my Born this Way Palette review.
Urban Decay – Heavy Metal Glitter Liners (Midnight Cowboy, Glam Rock) | $21.00, CF
Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Liners are the OG glitter gels in the beauty world. As a previous Urban Decay fanatic, the Glitter liners were products that I always longed to own. I grabbed the shades Midnight Cowboy and Glam Rock.* (Sale price: $24.80 – total)
Urban Decay – Beached Bronzer in Sunkissed & After Glow Blush | $26.00 – $31.00, CF
The Beached Bronzer* was on my to-buy list for quite some time. Finally, after years of lusting for this beachy bronzer, I picked it up during Urban Decay’s 25% off sale. so after years of longing for this beautifully packaged bronzer for so long, but holding back, I finally purchased this during Urban Decay’s 25% Off Sale.
Like the aforementioned Urban Decay products in this roundup, I lusted after the After Glow Blushes for sometime. However, the price tag always stopped me. Needless to say that I was excited to come across Paranoid at such a steep discount. Sadly this blush line was discontinued in 2019. (Sale price: $12.00)
Final Thoughts on my Overboard Luxury Beauty Haul
I’d be lying if I failed to mention how disgusted I felt when all my packages suddenly arrived at my door. In fact, rather than feeling a rush of excitement, I felt sick to my stomach.
Moreover, my overboard luxury beauty haul was so insane that I literally shipped half of my packages to my boyfriend’s house. I was embarrassed and ashamed for my family to see so many packages arriving at my doorstep.
Also, if it wasn’t apparent from my commentary, most my the items purchased in this haul were purchased in a frenzied state of anxiety. I shopped because I felt the urge to shop – not because I legitimately needed anything.
In hindsight, many of these purchases were mistakes. Seven of these items have already been decluttered and one turned out to be a dud. Also, as a beauty blogger, I made a mistake to purchase older items that I knew were being discontinued. I cannot review them any more.
Aside from a few of the indie palettes I picked up, I really made a huge mistake buying so much makeup at this time.
