Cruelty Free Beauty Haul – 2019 Birthday Haul

Cruelty-Free Birthday Beauty Haul | Physician's Formula, Pixi Beauty, Lime Crime, Anastasia Beverly Hills

What can I say? I love new beauty, so many of my birthday gifts this year were beauty related buys from my friends and family. Please keep reading for a recap of all the new beauty items I was gifted this month for my birthday in this mini Cruelty Free Beauty Haul.

Cruelty Free Beauty Haul

The gifts I received in Cruelty Free Beauty haul represents my beauty tastes. I was gifted a mix of prestige, indie, and affordable products. Of course, a few eyeshadow palettes were thrown in the mix.

Anastasia Beverly Hills x Jackie Aina Palette | $45.00 USD, CF

The Anastasia Beverly Hills x Jackie Aina Palette caught my attention when I saw Jackie’s announcement on YouTube. This is a half colorful, half neutral eyeshadow palette. I was thrilled to receive the Jackie Aina Palette for my birthday because I love the Anastasia Beverly Hills formula.

Huda Beauty New Nudes Palette | $65.00 USD, CF

My boyfriend’s family gifted me the Huda Beauty New Nudes Palette in early November. When this palette first released I was skeptical, but over the course of a year I’ve fallen in love. Given how this palette has stayed in my mind, I was very excited to receive this as a gift.

Lime Crime Venus III Palette | $38.00 USD, CF

The Lime Crime Venus III Palette is a palette I lusted for since it was released. However, I was unsure how I felt about the brand. Lime Crime has a controversial past, but I believe they are working to be better. Check out this interview JKISSA conducted with the CEO of Lime Crime.

I love purple tones like this. I am excited to test the Lime Crime formula for the first time. Please let me know if you’ve tried this palette, or any shadows from the brand.

Milk Makeup x Sephora Collection Studio Brush Set | $58.00 USD, CF

My jaw dropped when I first saw the images of the Milk Makeup x Sephora Collection Studio Brush Set. These look sleek and futuristic. I am always in need of new brushes given how frequently I wear cosmetics.

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer | $16.99 USD, CF

The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is my bronzer baby. I love this bronzer. The Butter Bronzer is the only bronzer that I’ve completely panned. I was thrilled to have this bronzer back in my collection.

Pixi Beauty Glowy Gossamer Highlighter Duo – Delicate Dew | $18.00 USD, CF

Countless beauty gurus and bloggers rave about the Pixi Beauty Glowy Highlighter DuosUnfortunately, Pixi is still harder to get in the United States. I was stoked to receive this pink-toned highlighter duo for my birthday this year. Hopefully, it won’t be too dark for my complexion.

Thoughts on my Cruelty Free Beauty Haul

First, I am so thankful to my friends and family for buying me these thoughtful gifts that I’ve been lusting after for a few months. Believe it or not, I don’t always love receiving beauty products as gifts unless I specifically ask for something.

Does makeup bring me joy? For sure. But as someone with a large collection, makeup sometimes feels like a commodity in that I don’t want to receive it for a gift all the time.

Given that I am embarking on a Year-Long No-Buy, I anticipate that I’ll receive more beauty-related gifts this year. A few items are still on the way to me – my friends and family gifted me with belated gifts.

  1. I’ve never tried Pixi before but I hear so many good things about their products. I get what you mean about not always wanting to receive makeup as a gift. It’s lovely to have but you can easily end up with too many items.

    1. Lol I got money from my BF’s family but I know what I want with it, so my BF is just grabbing that item for me hahaha. Spoiler/ it is 💯 the Melt Palette from the new holiday collection… I love the formula in their “traditional” palettes.

  2. You got so many nice things for your birthday! I have that Lime Crime palette to and I have a love/hate relationship with it haha, but you’re right, the colours are lovely! The orange colours in the Anastasia palette so are pretty too, very Autumn! I am on the look our for a new bronzer so I shall give the Butter Bronze a try! x

    1. I’m so curious – what were your biggest complaints about the Lime Crime Palette. I’ve heard that some of the shimmers look like shimmer toppers as opposed to metallic, pigmented shimmers.

The Jackie Aina Palette really is an underrated Fall Palette 100%. This needed more time to shine.

  3. I recently picked up the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer myself – it’s only recently become available in the UK – I’m so excited to give it a go because I’ve heard so many great things about it, and even more so hearing how much you love it too.. 🥰

  4. Happy belated birthday! I had no idea about Lime Crime’s controversial past but, I just got back from reading their “controversy” page. It does sound like they’re working really hard to fix their past. I’ve always been interested in the brand & would LOVE to know how you like the eyeshadow formula. The color story in the palette is so pretty! & those Milk Makeup brushes really do look so sleek & futuristic.

    1. I knew about certain aspects of the brand controversy but I never knew the whole story. But I totally agree – I think the new CEO is working really hard to change the brand’s image.
