20 in 2020 Project Pan Finale | More Makeup Empties December 29, 2020
Even though I’ve been actively project panning since the start of my first blog in 2016, I usually refrain from participating in popular projects. In truth, my 2018 attempt at Pan That Palette remains the only mainstream challenge I attempt. Nevertheless, this year I decided to partake in the 20 in 2020 Project Pan. Keep reading for my 20 in 2020 Project Pan Finale to see what I finished up this year!

20 in 2020 Project Pan Finale
Thankfully, I continued to make progress during this past month. Literally, the day after I posted my September Project Pan Update, I finished my deluxe sample of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation Trial Size in R230.
In general, I enjoyed the Ultra HD Foundation. As the name suggests, this foundation provides an ultra lightweight wash of color that allows my natural skin to peek through. Overall, this is a great foundation for people who do not like the look or feel of medium-to-full coverage options.

Next, I finished my BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder ($39.00, CF). Although I enjoyed the soft, matte finish this powder provided, I felt disappointed at how quickly it dried out.
At the start of November, I FINALLY finished my Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand ($38.00, CF). The dark, opaque packaging made it hard to track progress. In the end, I was shocked when I squeezed and squeezed the tube but no product came out! This was well worth the money and I’d certainly repurchase.
Eye Products
IT Cosmetics Mini Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil
The IT Cosmetics Mini Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil (12.00, CF) is never-ending. If you wanted to try this but couldn’t commit to the price point, I’d recommend picking this brow pencil up. At $12.00 this mini is in-line with some of the higher-end drugstore brands. However, this mini brow pencil lasted me nearly an entire year!

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Rust
I made minimal progress with my NYX – Jumbo Pencil in Rust ($4.50, CF). Honestly, if I commit to using this liner as a base in a few Fall-inspired looks, I know that I will see much better usage by the end of the year.
This is a perfect color to pair with many of my favorite Fall eyeshadow palettes.
POP Beauty Kajal Pencil in Inky Purple
I feel like I’ve been working on my POP Beauty Kajal Pencil in Inky Purple ($3.00, CF) forever. Honestly, if I haven’t finished this eyeliner by the end of the year I will toss it. The pencil is fine, but it is older in my collection and discontinued.

Lip Products
Bite Beauty – Line & Define Lip Liner | $22.00, CF (discontinued)
Despite consistent use, I am surprised by the lack of visible progress of this liner. Although I’d love to finish this pencil before the end of the year, I will not go out of my way to waste product just to have another empty. I’m still hopeful that I’ll see sizable progress before the end of the year.

Glossier Balm Dot Calm & Clear Lip Gloss
Somehow, I managed to lose my Coconut Balm Dotcom. ($12.00, CF) Had I not lost this balm, I know that I would have finished it. However, we’ll never know since this balm failed to turn up.
The Clear Lip Gloss ($14.00, CF) continued to challenge me. Although this is one of my top ranked lip glosses, I am not reaching for glosses as much due to the mask requirements in my state. Also, I hate when applicators get stained with other lip products. Therefore, I find myself applying this gloss with a finger, which I’m even less inclined to want to do.

Pat McGrath Labs Mini Lust Gloss in Bronze Temptation
My Pat McGrath Mini Lust Gloss in Bronze Temptation ($16.00, CF). Y’all, a part of me genuinely thought I’d be close to done with this product. Clearly my progress stalled as we neared the end of the year.

Sephora Lip Liner to Go in Fresh Berry & Deep Aubergine
Both Fresh Berry and Deep Aubergine ($6.00) were used once. Just given the current mask requirements, I don’t find myself wanting to create bold, statement lips when I do my makeup. However, I am still hopeful that I’ll make great progress this Winter now that these colors are more seasonally appropriate.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Liar
Without a doubt, the progress on my Urban Decay Liar Vice Lipstick ($18.00, CF) held strong throughout the year. At this point, this is the closest I’ve ever come to finishing an entire bullet lipstick. Although I didn’t finish this product by the end of the year, I know I will finish this lipstick next year.

Base Products
Artist Couture Mini Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati
My Mini Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati ($14.10, CF) is still going strong. Even though I use this highlighter a few times a week, the progress looks minimal. I am unlikely to include a loose powder in a Project Pan again unless the goal is usage-based as opposed to finishing the product.
Glossier Stretch Concealer in G10
Clearly, I’ve barely touched my Stretch Concealer in G10 ($18.00, CF). Still no noticeable progress on this concealer. Although I like the formula, I do not tend to reach for potted concealers as much. If I do not finish this concealer in 2021, I will declutter it.

Milk Makeup Mini Highlighter in Lit
My Milk Makeup Mini Highlighter in Lit ($14.00, CF). I continue to chip away at this cream highlighter. Although I failed to finish Lit by the end of the year, I feel confident that I can finish this highlighter eventually.
Read my complete thoughts on this highlighter, as well as other favorite Milk Makeup products in my Milk Makeup brand review.
Tatcha Mini Silk Canvas
Even though my Mini Silk Canvas* ($22.00, CF) is a beautiful, skin-blurring primer, my progress has been slow. Simply put, my skin’s irritability this year has made it difficult to use this primer regularly. However, I hope to finish this primer in 2021.

Miscellaneous
Overall, using up makeup products remained the main focus of my 20 in 2020 Project. However, as the year progressed I allowed myself to rotate in one non-makeup product.

Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray
My progress using the Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray ($25.00, CF) stalled. Knowing what 2020 was like, I should have just removed this Blowout Spray from the project. Given that I’m stuck in the house, I just don’t find myself blowdrying my hair anymore.

20 in 2020 Project Pan Finale
I’m proud to say that I exceeded my goal to finish 20 makeup products in 2020 by my 20 in 2020 Project Pan Finale. Any update where I am able to finish at least one more product is a major win for me! Additionally, I decluttered (or lost) three more products that were specifically part of this project.
As I neared the my 20 in 2020 Project Pan Finale deadline, I pretty much gave up on using the products I knew that I wasn’t going to finish. Instead, I turned my focus towards the items I felt I still had a chance at finishing.
Had 2020 not been the year that it was for so many of us, I know that I would have finished far more than 20 products (and a ton of makeup and skincare empties). Moreover, I should have easily finished the two glosses in this project. Sadly, wearing lip gloss is much harder to do while wearing a mask.

So satisfying!
I am with you on this, LP. I hardly blow dry my hair these days and I’m definitely wearing less makeup because I’m at home almost all the time. I enjoyed the post and seeing what you were able to finish. I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday! ♥️
I kind of feel the same about the Becca powder, I liked the formula but once it was dry it wasn’t too special. I might do something similar this year, but we’ll see if you and Simone manage to convince me XD
Ooooh you did so well!! I created a list at the start of 2020 and never looked at it again lol, I don’t even know if I emptied any of the items on the list (I only know I hit pan on the MR palette). I’m going to give it another try for this year and hope to finish as many products as you did this year!
