Why this Project?
Last year, I started on a mission to be more transparent about my bad beauty buying habits. I meticulously tracked the items that came in and out of my collection using my beauty inventory, I rounded up my beauty empties, and ruthlessly decluttered products throughout the year.
Although I was not shy to share my beauty inventory or my hauls, I always shied away from sharing the actual size and value of my makeup collection. However, I finally took the plunge to share my makeup collection.
Although I intend to keep tracking my seasonal empties and beauty declutters, I set a specific Project Pan Goal to finish 20 products in 2020.

Final Thoughts on my 20 in 2020 Project Pan March Update
I am blown away by the progress I made by my 20 in 2020 Project Pan March Update. I anticipated that I would have a good chance of finishing products such as the Kopari Lip Glossy and the mini Dermablend Loose Setting Powder. However, I am amazed by how quickly I finished some of the base and setting products
Although I should be celebrating this little victory, I am nervous to see how this month’s progress impacts my ability to finish products in the future. More specifically, I am worried about the difficulty of finishing the new products thatI’m rotating into the project. Many of these new adds have much more product left than those items that I’ve finished.
Despite this growing trepidation, I need to remember that I do not want to waste my makeup by being heavy-handed and over-using items. Slow progress is still progress.
Biggest Goal for Update 2: I hope to finish either my Milk KUSH Brow Gel, Urban Decay Setting Spray or ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Falling Up by my next update.

Wow L look how well you’ve done!! This is so amazing. Even if you don’t feel you’ll have good as progress on these newer products you’ve still used up 8!! At least with the rolling aspect of the project you’ll be able to get use of more or hit pan on MORE than 20 products! You’ve got this girl well done!

Honestly, I was legit SHOCKED by how much progress I made. I thought I had a lot more product left in some of these items and I didn’t realize how quickly I’d get through items if I was using them daily. Clearly, I’ve lost touch with reality since my collection has grown so large. BUT The things I’m rolling in will take me longer to finish, for sure!
I may do a reset and swap some things out at the mid-year point, but so far, I’m feeling motivated with how I’ve been working through these products!!
Can’t wait to see all your progress, girl!
shit wow , the dedication you have made is amazing!!! Keep it up man! I get that feeling of almost wanting to use it excessively just so it would go faster and it feels so guilty right! But good job so far girl!
I was really proud of the progress and was so surprised at my progress! Like I thought I had WAY more product left in most of these items…. but the things I rolled in will def take me longer, so progress may slow down. But progress is progress. Def don’t want to “hate pan” or over use things, so I’m happy at how these things have been getting used up so naturally!!
You are on it! I started Project Pan at the beginning of March – if I do half as good as you’re doing I will be ecstatic! 👍
Ahh thank you!!! I feel really motivated right now.
I need to check out your post – I’m so behind right now with my blog reader. Love seeing other people doing similar projects!!! Project Panning has such a supportive community of people trying to love beauty but still working on using what they own!!
You’re doing really well so far 🙂 I’ve been thinking about trying a Project Pan myself!
Thank you so much!! It is so satisfying to see how much progress you can make when you try!!! I was really pleased and super surprised at how much I was able to get through this month – I think I overestimated what I had left in each product and how long it would take me to get through these items with regular use.
Def send me a link to your post if you decided to participate in your own Project Pan this year!!!
This is great! I should really work on something like this-I feel like I rarely use up products because I get carried away with new ones. You’re making some great progress though, keep it up!
lol same, girl! I really wanted to make 2020 the year I work through more of my makeup. So far, so good… but still a long way to go!!
I need to do my Project pan 2020 update this month aswell but unfortunately I am nowhere near your progress.
Great job!
OOO I’m super excited to see your progress!!!! I was literally so shocked at my progress this past month…. I 100% overestimated how much product I had left in each item and the time it would take me to finish certain items.
I don’t over-apply things just to get through them (because that is just as wasteful), but I clearly lost touch with knowing how long it would take me to finish certain items with steady usage.
However, I will say the the things I’m rolling in will DEF take me longer to get through because they are much more full with product than the things they’re replacing. Especially the Tatcha primer and Glossier concealer.
I probably have 2 or 3 products that I know will be easy but can’t say the same thing about the rest. 🙈
Slow progress is indeed still progress! I think you’re doing great, look how far you’ve come!
Thank you so much for this supportive comment!
You are doing so well, LP! This looks like great progress to me!
Thanks Jennifer!! In some ways, I feel like this is the makeup equivalent of making it through a Good Reads list lol!!!
This was such an oddly satisfying post to read. Wasting products is such a horrible feeling so it’s great to see how much progress you’re making! I think the main point is you’re getting through your products and you’ve managed to stay dedicated to the cause, so I have no doubts you’ll continue to hit pan on the newer products you’ve rolled in
Thanks, girl! I feel like Project Panning / Empties sound so strange to outsiders, but if you’re a makeup addict/lover, they really are oddly satisfying. I really wanted to finish up these products and am happy with the progress that I’ve been making. Hopefully this will continue as the year progresses.
Woooow so many products!! I’m so impressed! I have to admit that finishing products goes quicker than I expected. I’m also finishing products I didn’t thought were close to finished so I’m excited! I like this project lol.
Yessss girl!!!!!! I’m so excited to read about your progress. Isn’t it crazy how you forget how long it takes to use something up when you own so much?? lol! And its crazy just b/c some of these items I’ve been using daily while others I’m only using 2X a week and I’m still seeing so much progress!
Glad to hear you are progressing and this is a great way to finish products!
So far so good – although I rolled up the cream products and realized that I have a TON left, so these may take me all year to use up!!! X_X
Lol that happens for sure I thought my BB cream was over and then I rolled it up and have been using it for like a month 😂
I totally notice myself being a little more heavy-handed with products I’m trying to use up. I need to be more aware of that! You did great this round, LP! Can’t wait to see you make even more progress as the year goes on. 😊
I am so happy that I’m making good progress. Being stuck at home is helping me to make good progress since I don’t commute anymore I have time to do a full beat every day lol.
