2nd 20 in 2020 Project Pan Update April 12, 2020
In 2020, I’m attempting to finish 20 makeup products. If you’re curious, keep reading for my 2nd 20 in 2020 Project Pan update.
Why This Challenge?
In 2019 I set out with the mission to be more transparent about my negative beauty buying habits. This meant that I meticulously tracked my purchases and spending. Each quarter, I gathered together my beauty empties, and mercilessly decluttered products throughout the year.
Ultimately, my desire to track the items that were flowing in and out of my collection led to the creation of a thorough beauty inventory system. And by the end of 2019 I finally took a risk to share the size and value of my huge makeup collection despite the fear of judgment.
The size and value of my collection was so shocking that I felt motivated to participate in a Project Pan with a specific goal to finish more makeup in 2020. Specifically, I am doing a 20 in 2020 Project Pan.

20 in 2020 Project Pan | Update #1: March 2020
Products I Finished
- Bite Beauty – Matte Creme Lip Pencil in Glace ($12.00, CF)*
- Fenty Beauty – Mini Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow ($11.50, CF)*
- Milk Makeup – KUSH Clear Brow Gel ($18.00, CF)*
- Pixi Beauty – Hydrating Milky Mist ($15.00, CF)*
- Shiseido – Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation SPF 30 in 220 Deluxe Mini ($7.83)
- Urban Decay – All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($32.00, CF)*
In addition to finishing the above 5 items in this project, I made the decision to declutter my Milk Makeup – Mini Lip + Cheek Stick in Werk. Although I have been using this cream blush almost daily for the last 2 months there is been no noticeable progress. In fact, this product looks just as full as it did when I first put it in this project. This frustration, as well as the changing blush scent, lead me to toss this out.
Products I’m Still Working On
Original Products
Given that this is a rolling project pan, I will roll in new products as I finish projects every month. Every update within my 20 in 2020 Project Pan will include twenty beauty products that I want to finish up by the end of the year.
- BECCA – Backlight Priming Filter Mini ($21.00, CF)*
- BECCA – Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder ($39.00, CF)
- Charlotte Tilbury – Hollywood Contour Wand ($38.00, CF)*
- Milk Makeup – Mini Highlighter in Lit ($14.00, CF)*
- ColourPop – Super Shock Shadow in Falling Up ($4.50, CF)
- Glossier – Clear Lip Gloss ($14.00, CF)*
- Urban Decay – Vice Lipstick in Liar ($18.00, CF)*
- Artist Couture – Mini Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati ($14.10, CF)
- Glossier – Coconut Balm Dotcom ($12.00, CF)*
- Glossier – Stretch Concealer in G10 ($18.00, CF)*
- IT Cosmetics – Mini Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil (12.00, CF)
- L.A. Girl – Gel Glide Eyeliner in Champagne ($3.99, CF)
- Tatcha – Silk Canvas Mini ($22.00, CF)
Products I’m Rolling In
For every product within my 20 in 2020 Project Pan that I finish, I will roll in a new product so that I can use up as many makeup items in my collection as possible.
- Amica – Bombshell Blowout Spray ($25.00, CF)
- Charlotte Tilbury – Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation in 4N ($22.00, CF)
- Milk Makeup – Hydro Grip Gel Primer Mini ($15.00, CF)
- NYX – Jumbo Pencil in Rust ($4.50, CF)
- POP Beauty Kajal Pencil in Inky Purple ($3.00, CF)
- Sephora Lip Liner to Go in Fresh Berry ($6.00, CF)
- Smolder Cosmetics – Lumi Dew Hydra Mist in Nebula ($21.00, CF)
Although my main goal within this project is to finish more cosmetic products, I can only work on so many lip and base products at the same time. Knowing I have a ton of product left in my Bombshell Blowout Spray from Amica, I felt that my 20 in 2020 Project Pan would provide more incentive to use this heat styler regularly.
Previously Finished Products
The below products are items that I finished before my Recap of my 20 in 2020 Project Pan Update #2. As you can tell, I made much greater progress during my first month compared to my 2nd month of this project.
- Dermablend – Translucent Loose Setting Powder Mini ($5.22)
- Kopari – Coconut Lip Glossy ($12.00, CF)*
- LA Girl – Gel Glide Eyeliner in Whiten ($3.99, CF)
- Maybelline – Fit Me Concealer in Fair ($8.29)*
- Milani – Eyeshadow Primer ($5.99, CF)*
- Nudestix – Tinted Blur Stick in Light 2 ($30.00, CF)*
- Revlon – Candid Photoready Insta-Filter Foundation in 200 Nude ($17.99)*

Final Thoughts on my 2nd 20 in 2020 Project Pan Update
As I expected, my progress during my 2nd month of this project slowed down. As a result, I was only able to finish 6 more products by my 20 in 2020 Project Pan Update #2.
I am disappointed with this slow progress; however, I need to recognize that the items I rolled in last month will be longer-term items for me to work on throughout this project. As this project continues to progress, I expect that my progress will continue to slow as I bring larger and newer items into my project.
Despite the slowing progress, I am happy to have this project to work on while I am stuck at home. In some ways, being stuck at home has helped me to finish my lip products more quickly. Now that I am home all day, I remember to reapply my lip products periodically throughout the day.
However, I am beginning to hate my ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Falling Up. Despite daily usage of this shadow, I still have so much product left in the pan. For nearly two weeks straight, Falling Up was the only lid shade I was wearing! I will be glad when this shadow is finally done.
Biggest Goal for Update 3: I hope to finish my BECCA Backlight Priming Filter, BECCA Hydra-Mist Set and Refresh Powder, or my ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Falling Up by my next update.

Daaamn good job in already finishing so many! Gosh, am i the only weirdo who looks at my makeup and think how happy i am to have so many ahahah! It’s only skincare that I hate having so much of! And what a testament to Milk’s lip and cheek stain! It lasts forever! I love reading your project pan updates, you are so dedicated! And I was just wondering, if you were stuck at home now how do you keep using your products! I like that you keep wearing makeup at home! I hope you’ll do a one day in my life during quarantine!
lol I used to be happy with all that I had, but now I’m teetering on feeling overwhelmed with how much I own. The Milk Lip + Cheek Stain really does last forever lol! I just knew I had to declutter this cheek project, given how it was starting to go bad and that I wasn’t making any dent.
For me, wearing makeup has always been something I do for myself and not for anyone else, so I’ve still felt really compelled to do my makeup while stuck at home. I love having the time to focus on myself and play with products. Plus, trying to finish these projects has been a major motivator as well!
That’s a great idea for a post – I’ll have to write something up like that!
Yeek! Well it’s served its sentence! I love that you do makeup for yourself! It’s such a great feeling! I hope to see the post soon!
I recently just started using the Milk primer and it is so good I’m really loving it!
It is so so good, right?? I’m going to miss this when I finish it.
Yeah it’s really good!
I NEED to do this honestly! I’m awful at finishing products.
lol I am, too, honestly! This project has made me way more aware of that even though I am starting to finish things up! It takes so long to get through makeup!
Still, you’re doing a great job consistently hitting pan on many products! I’ve stopped using many things altogether after the lockdown, so if I’d started a similar project that’s definitely already a failure. Hopefully you get to finish more soon, keep at it!
Thank you so much for this encouragement – I’m trying my hardest but I still feel like I’m not working through things quickly enough!
You are doing so good! It’s normal that is slowing down with not going out, don’t be hard on yourself. The BECCA Hydra Mist Powder is so good!
The irony is that I think I’m wearing more makeup more consistently now that I’m stuck at home. Since I’m not commuting, I have time to do full beat everyday LOL. I hope I’ll keep it up once I start working out of the home again lol.
wow that’s amazing that you actually managed to finish what you did, that’s more than i would’ve been able to that’s for sure! I’ve had products of all sorts sitting in my makeup draw for yeaaaaars it’s honestly embarrassing at this point, I can honestly say you’ve definitely inspired me to actually finish off the perfectly good products i already own rather than going out and wasting money on new stuff!
lol I wish this helped me to stop buying so much, BUT at the very least this project has been helping me to fully use up items and to rotate through more of my collection!
Dang, you are doing well!
It doesn’t matter if it’s going slow, because it is still going the right way! I definitely think you are doing a great job, keep it up! 🙂
thank you so much for this encouragement!!
Anytime! I know how hard it Can be Both to declutter but also actually use what you have, so you are doing just splendid!😊
Girl you’re panning products like it’s nothing! You’re doing so well, I love to see it.
lmao I feel like some of these products I’ll be working on all year and never finish!! But hopefully I’ll keep up the momentum. With finals happening right now, I’ve been so stressed/swamped with work that I’ve been wearing less makeup than normal!
It totally makes sense that you slowed down a bit on using your products! I still think you did an impressive job. 🙂 Has your BECCA hydra mist powder lost its wet feeling? It surprised me to read that being at home has reminded you to reapply your lippie more often. Hope you are able to get through the CP SSS! It’s awesome how much product is in there but I see how it could be frustrating to see no change when you’re trying to use it up!
UGH yes – it only stayed hydrating for like a month and a half. MAYBE 2 months max. Its a shame because the powder really worked well and the cooling effect was unique. I can’t tell if they’re discontinuing this now, though!
Same with mine! I thought it was because I had broken the little inside flip cover but then I kept reading other people say theirs had dried out too! Once mine did, my face started reacting badly to it so I do think they need to rethink their formula. It was a cool concept though!
