Summer 2020 Makeup Empties Roundup October 17, 2020
As some of you may know, this summer I took a 2-month blogging hiatus to work the backend of my blog. While the time away helped me to make some major improvements to my site, I fell behind with my blogging schedule – including my quarterly beauty empties! However, today I’m finally sharing my Summer 2020 makeup empties.
Typically, I share my quarterly makeup, skincare, and haircare empties in one post. However, after six months, my empties pile grew too big to share in one post.

Why Do I Share My Makeup Empties?
As somone with a huge beauty collection, I set an aggressive goal to reduce my collection by a third by the end of 2020. Spoiler: this will not happen. Nevertheless, I work hard to use the products in my collection.
My 20 in 2020 Project Pan is one of the major ways I am attempting to make use of more of my collection. Additionally, I consistently work on products that are not featured in my Project Pan rotation!
Keep reading today’s post for my Summer 2020 makeup empties.
Summer 2020 Makeup Empties
BECCA – Mini Backlight Priming Filter ($21.00, CF)
At one point, I decluttered my Mini Backlight Priming Filter.* Thankfully, I changed my mind. This is a beautiful, glowy primer that ads a lit from within glow to the skin – even when worn under full coverage foundation.

Benefit – BadGal Bang Mascara | $25.00
Wow. Prior to trying the BadGal Bang, my beloved Milk Kush Mascara was the last lash product to impress me. BadGal Bang* provides intense length, volume, and lift to my lashes. When using this mascara, I looked like I had gotten a lash lift or lash extension. Will certainly purchase again.

Bite Beauty – Matte Crème Lip Pencil – Glace | $12.00, CF & Vegan
Since the brand’s inception, Bite Beauty has always had a focus on clean beauty. However, in 2020 the brand reformulated its entire line to meet Sephora’s clean standards and to exclude animal derivatives.
The Matte Creme Lip Pencil in Glace* is one of my favorite lippies – I nearly purchased the new formula of this favorite shade during one of Bite Beauty’s sales this Spring.

Charlotte Tilbury – Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation 4N – Deluxe Sample| $22.00, CF
I received a deluxe sample of the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation in the shade 4N. First, the shade was far too deep and warm for me. Second, the foundation was extremely matte. I felt like this emphasized my skin texture and looked like foundation.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation
ColourPop – Super Shock Shadow in Falling Up | $4.50, CF
In late 2018, I purchased Falling Up as part of ColourPop’s Double Rainbow Super Shock Shadow Kit. While I’ve loved using Falling Up over the last couple of years, I am thrilled to finish this shadow since I have an insanely large collection of Super Shock Shadows. Read my review on the Double Rainbow kit and follow along with my journey to pan this eyeshadow this year!

Dior – Forever Foundation Matte 2N – Deluxe Sample| $5.20
In 2019, I received the Dior – Forever Foundation Matte 2N Deluxe Sample as part of an online-exclusive promotion from Sephora. Similarly to the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation, this foundation was too deep and warm for my pale, cool neutral skin tone. Although the Dior Forever Foundation was less mattifying than the Charlotte Tilbury, I am unlikely to purchase a full size.

Fenty Beauty – Mini Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow | $11.50, CF
The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb formula is my all-time favorite lip gloss formula. Of the shades in the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb line, Fenty Glow* is my favorite shade so I am not surprised that I would finish this lip gloss. The Fenty Gloss bomb formula is ultra-shiny, luscious, and long-lasting without feeling sticky or drying on the lips.

Jouer Cosmetics – Essential Lip Enhancer Balm | $7.20, CF
The Jouer Cosmetics Essential Lip Enhancer Balm* was a freebie that I received when Beautycon attempted to make amends with attendees who had a poor experience at Beautycon NYC ’19. I was blown away by the way this lip balm restores my dry lips. For the last year, this has been a go-to nighttime lip balm.

L.A. Girl – Gel Glide Eyeliner in Whiten | $3.99, CF
The L.A. Girl Gel Glide Eyeliners are some of the best affordable eyeliners at the drugstore. These liners are ultra-creamy, pigmented, and last all day in the waterline. Will certainly purchase more.

Laura Mercier – Tinted Moisturizer Sample (Nude) | $4.50
The Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer* was my very first high end foundation purchase. Over the years, I’ve owned 3 full-size tubes of this classic tinted moisturizer. However, I never tried the brand’s traditional formula.
With that said, I felt excited to try the revamped formula. Overall, I enjoyed the reformulated Tinted Moisturizer. It provides my skin with a healthy, radiant boost with a light wash of color.

MAC Cosmetics – Prep + Prime Fix Plus Deluxe Sample
Early this spring, I finally went through my last deluxe sample of my Prep + Prime Fix Plus from MAC.* When I work through the remaining hydrating setting sprays in my collection, I will repurchase this much-loved setting spray.

Make Up For Ever – Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation Trial Size (R230) | $7.17
For being a free sample from Sephora, the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in R30 looked like a perfect match on my skin. Overall, this lightweight, sheer coverage foundation looked looked like my skin, but better.

Milk Makeup – Mini Hydro Grip Gel Primer | $15.00, CF
I am obsessed with the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Gel Primer.* As someone with oily skin, I have to prime my skin before applying foundation. However, I do not always love the look of a matte primer. The Hydro Grip Primer is perfect for keeping foundation locked into place without making my face look drier than the Sahara.

Mini Milk Makeup Hydrogrip Primer
Milk Makeup – Mini Kush Lip Balm in Green Dragon | $8.00, CF
The Mini Kush Lip Balm from Milk Makeup* provided a sheer burst of hydration for my dry lips. Although this worked to hydrate my lips during the day, this balm was not strong enough for overnight wear.

Pixi Beauty – Hydrating Milky Mist | $15.00, CF
Although Pixi Beauty appears to be a popular affordable brand in Europe, its rise in popularity within the US has been slow. Originally, Pixi was a Target-exclusive brand that was at the upper threshhold of drugstore prices.
The Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Mist* is an ultra-fine hydrating mist that adds life back to the skin without leaving the skin feeling drenched or wet. The Milky Mist worked well as a hydrating setting spray or to refresh the skin.

Shiseido – Deluxe Sample Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation SPF 30 – 220 |
Don’t be fooled by the size of this tiny bottle, this deluxe-sized sample of the Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation. This deluxe sample lasted me for two months.
From far away, this foundation looked very skin-like. However, when looking close up, this foundation highlighted the imperfections in my skin. That being said, I was surprised at how dead-on the shade match was for me.

Sample Makeup Empties
In 2020, I decided to include single-use samples within my beauty inventory spreadsheet. After my samples pile grew beyond control, I knew that included samples in my yearlong empties project would motivate me to use the samples in my collection!

Final Thoughts on My Spring 2020 Makeup Empties Roundup
Without my makeup-focused 20 in 2020 Project Pan, I likely would not have finished this many makeup products. In fact, 9 out of the 16 products included in this roundup were included in my project. Hopefully, I will finish the year strong with even more empties.
