A Little Bit About the Brand
My Clarins is french skincare brand, Clarins,’ downmarket, Vegan and Cruelty-Free skincare line aimed at reaching teenagers and young adults. Unlike their parent brand, My Clarins products are not sold in any countries that mandate animal testing. Additionally, the brand promises to provide consumers with formulas that are up to 95% naturals-based.
According to Escentual, the My Clarins line operates with with a ”Goodness In, Nasties Out’ mantra. As such, two of the cornerstone ingredients included throughout the range are coconut water and Alpenrose extract. Coconut Water promises to optimize cell nutrition. Meanwhile, Alpenrose claims to act as detoxifying ingredient, pulling pollutants out of the skin.

Also, while at Beautycon NYC ’19, I visited the My Clarins booth that they set up to introduce convention attendees to the new brand. The My Clarins team provided so many opportunities to get to know their products and to take super cute photos.

Packaging & Price
In terms of packaging, the My Clarins RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist* comes in a white and red tin bottle with minimal design elements. Despite the simple design, the bottle feels weighted and quite luxurious.

Price-wise, the beauty mist is much less expensive than other products within Clarin’s traditional range. The Beauty Mist retails for $20.00.
Is My Clarins Cruelty Free & Vegan?

Additionally, the My Clarins range contains many Vegan-friendly options – including the RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist. Therefore, this mist contains no animal derivatives and the brand conducts no animal testing on this product.

Ingredient Analysis
According to Clarins, the RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist* contains fig and acerola seed extracts and Robinia flower water to soften the skin. Meanwhile, the organic coconut water and alpenrose extract within Clarin’s exclusive Healthy In & Out complex helps to provide needed nutrients while flushing out toxins and pollutants.
Excluding water, the below are the top 10 ingredients in this formula.
Ingredient | Skincare Benefit |
Butylene Glycol | According to Paula’s Choice, this ingredient is a texture enhancer. |
Glycereth-26 | A synthetic glycerin-based ingredient often used as an emollient and thickening agent. |
Propanediol | A natural or synthetic glycol ingredient that enhances the absorption of ingredients into the skin. Additionally, Propanediol‘s hydrating properties may leave a smooth, dewy finish. |
Glycerin | A colorless, odorless, plant-based humectant (an ingredient that attracts water). |
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Juice | A plant-based skin and hair conditioning humectant derived from fruit of the coconut tree. Also, it is rich in skin-conditioning fatty acids, proteins, and complex B vitamins. |
PPG-26-Buteth-26 | A synthetic ingredient that combines polypropylene glycol with an ether of the fatty alcohol buty alcohol. Moreover, this ingredient may condition, cleanse, or emulsify. |
Propylene Glycol | Propylene glycol is a humectant and delivery ingredient commonly used to keep products from freezing or melting in extreme conditions. Also, Propylene Glycol helps active ingredients better penetrate the skin. |
Phenoxyethanol | Phenoxyethanol is a widely-used synthetic preservative with global approval for use in all cosmetic products in concentrations up to 1%. Also, this preservative helps to stabilize products and prevent pathogens from multiplying in skincare products. Additionally, it is compatible with many other preservatives. |
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil | A common emulsifier made of mix of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and castor oil used to stop moisture loss and keep skin feeling soft. |
Sodium Benzoate | A common preservative. |
Although heavily featured in product messaging, Fig, Acerola, and Robinia flower extract are not among the top 10 ingredients. Overall, this type of marketing is not uncommon for skincare brands. Nevertheless, I wish that at least one of these hyped ingredients cracked the top ten.

Application & Wear-Time
First, I appreciate the way the nozzle evenly distributes a fine spritz of the Hydrating Beauty Mist into the air. Unlike some less expensive spray bottles, the spray does not aggressively squirt drops of water onto the face.
As mentioned in the product claims, the mist truly feels super fine and lightweight. Aside from the refreshing boost it provides the skin, the product feels weightless on the face.

According to the Clarins website, the RE-FRESH Mist is best applied as the third step in your skincare routine. First, cleanse. Then, moisturize. Next, refresh with the skin mist. Finally, apply the rest of your routine!
Typically, I apply the mist whenever my skin is feeling parched or looks a little dull. Also, I love to apply this over a full face of makeup if my powder application looks too heavy-handed.
Despite containing fragrance, I do not experience any irritation when using the My Clarins RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist. Moreover, I do not experience any headaches from an overly powerful fragrance.
P.S. My boyfriend loves the scent of this mist, too! In fact, he always compliments how lovely I smell when I apply the RE-FRESH Mist.
Where is the My Clarins RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist sold?
The RE-FRESH Mist is sold on the Clarins US Website, as well as at Ulta.*
Final Thoughts on the My Clarins RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist
Overall, I really enjoyed the My Clarins RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist. First, I loved that I could enjoy a scented mist without experiencing any irritation. Second, I appreciated the ultra fine mist and the radiant boost my skin received after each use. Third, the weighted, high-quality packaging impressed me. In fact, I will keep this bottle for future use!
With all the above said, I am disappointed that the most hyped-up ingredients were not listed among the top ingredients for the mist. Moreover, I cannot validate the claims that this mist flushes out toxins.
Nevertheless, I recommend the My Clarins RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist to anyone who wants to treat themselves to an ultra fine, refreshing mist with an intoxicatingly beautiful scent. Finally, this is a wonderful option for anyone with sensitive skin like me!

This mist had a better photoshoot than I ever will ahahahah I’m not one for mists but I SWEAR by their primer. Literally the best thing I’ve ever tried XD
LMAO same, same!!! I need to try more from Clarins & My Clarins lol!
Agree! They are so underrated!
The packaging of this looks really pretty! The ingredients might be a little disappointing, but honestly for the price, I might have to give this a try! I love when products smell nice too.
The ingredients aren’t necessarily disappointing, but I do think the marketing was a tad misleading (but not uncommon for skincare and makeup brands). This was lovely, though! Love the simplicity of the My Clarins line.
I’ve not heard of My Clarins but this little facial mist has definitely piqued my attention. It sounds lovely! Personally, I like fragranced skincare as I don’t experience any irritation, so the scent of this product along with the lightweight texture sounds divine. I’ve added it to my wishlist lol!
Ah yes, skincare marketing is the worst. So many brands market products around “active” ingredients or particular ingredients, only for you to find them right at the bottom of the INCI list. Brands also have this awful habit of saying what’s NOT in their product, but not what’s in their product. This drives me insane. It’s annoying, but this mist does still sound lovely, even if the marketing is a little off haha
The brand launched in 2019, so it is def new. And yes!!! I see brands demonizing ingredients that are 100% cosmetically safe and/or would NEVER be in their particular products either. It is so bizarre to me.
