Whether you love it or hate it, it feels like a new influencer or celebrity-owned beauty brand is popping up every single day. While some influencers and celebrities rely heavily on their position of influence to sell their products, other celebrity/influencer-owned brands fly under the radar. Similarly, while some celebrity and influencer owned brands remain controversial, others are unproblematic and much-loved for their high-quality products.
If you’re looking to discover a few new brands OR if you’re looking to avoid celebrity and influencer owned beauty lines, then please keep on reading for a comprehensive list. Some of these brands will definitely shock you!
Fenty, Flower, KKW, & Kylie
Celebrity-Founded Beauty Brands
The below have either been founded by a celebrity, or invested in by a celebrity. Personally, I’ve tried very few of the below celebrity brands because I have mixed feelings on many of these brands.
Influencer brands like Dominique Cosmetics, Holo Taco, Huda Beauty, Persona Cosmetics, & Tati Beauty are growing!
Influencer-Owned Beauty Brands
Nowadays it feels like every major beauty influencer or YouTuber is launching his or her own line of beauty tools, cosmetics, skincare or haircare. While some influencers seem to be heavily involved with their brands, others seem much more like faces of their brands as opposed to CEOs.
Anastasia Beverly Hills, ColourPop, Dose of Colours, & Il Makiage frequently collaborate with brands
Brands that Frequently Collab with Celebrities & Influencers
Most major beauty brands collaborate with celebrities and influencers to release limited edition products. These collaborations often work well for the brand and the influencer. On the brand side, collaboration products are an easier way to ensure strong sales and can potentially revive a brand that is fading in popularity. On the influencer side, collaborations can be a way to make money and to grow the influencer’s “fame” through mainstream exposure.
Thoughts on Celebrity and Influencer-Owned Beauty Lines
Although I’m feeling fatigued by the growing list of celebrity and influencer-owned beauty lines on the market, I don’t hold any contempt for these brands. If a celebrity or influencer has a true passion for beauty and feels that he or she can bring something innovative to the market, then I’m all for it. However, I do feel that too many celebrities and influencers see the beauty market as aquick cash grab and are not contributing to the industry in a meaningful way.
Do I support all the brands featured on this list? Definitely not – but there are still a ton on this list that I have purchased from or want to try in the future. At the end of the day, I care more about the quality of a product than the name on the packaging.
