Although I wasn’t tagged, I knew immediately that I needed to do this tag! Believe it or not, this challenge was difficult. I wanted to reference my Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario for nearly every question.

Best Packaging
Without a doubt, the ColourPop Sweet Talk Palette* is the prettiest palette in my collection. The mix of girly, floral detailing with edgier, graphic details makes for visually stimulating packaging. Honorable Mention: The Pinky Rose Exotic Peacock Palette is stunning on the inside and the outside. I love the sharp contrast between the bold blue and purple eyeshadows and the vibrant, yellow packaging. Also, I am drawn in by the flower detailing that covers the edges of the package.
Best Color Payoff
I don’t tend to purchase these a ton of face palettes anymore. However, my Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champaign Collection Face Palette is a staple in my beauty collection.
All the shades in this palette are vibrant without being overpowering. The colors included could work across a wide variety of skin tones. Each pan is pigmented and easy to build.
Honorable mention: The Juvia’s Place Nubian Palette* is an affordable, pigmented palette that is under-hyped in the beauty community. In fact, I’m actually surprised at all the hate this palette gets online from avid Juvia’s Place fans.
Within the Nubian Palette, the mattes and shimmers are intensely pigmented. They require no work to create a beautiful, warm-toned look. The fact that I tend to get compliments when I use this palette makes me love the shadows even more. Most Versatile
Cliche but true: the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance* is a versatile, warm neutral eyeshadow palette. Depending on my mood, I can create a bold, colorful pink or red-toned eye look or a completely neutral, brown look. The shade variety makes this palette ideal for anyone who loves colorful or shadows.
I reach for this palette when working with a palette that is missing key transition shades. The Modern Renaissance pairs well with countless other palettes. If you can’t tell by the beat up packaging, this palette is very well loved.
The above being said, it is easy for this palette to look muddy quickly. if too many shades are applied to the eyelids. Also, this palette doesn’t age well. Nevertheless, this is a palette that I’d recommend to both skilled makeup artists and makeup newbies. See where it landed in my Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette ranking.
Best for Traveling
The Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Palette* is my go-to travel palette. Although the color scheme is neutral, the shade variety in the palette enables me to create a mix of easy, classic looks for day-time wear and fully-glam looks for the evening.
The colors are easy to blend, pigmented, and last all day, which makes this palette ideal for a variety of climates and situations. Plus, this palette is pocket-sized. Read my Smokey Obsessions Palette review or check out my Huda Beauty Palette ranking.
One comment is that the shadows are quite soft, so if traveling with this palette, keep it in the plastic sleeve.
Biggest Regret
I regret purchasing a few of my current eyeshadow palettes. However, two particular bad purchases stand out to me.
First, the Natasha Denona Mini Lila Palette. It is too expensive for poor pigmentation and zero staying power. This is one of the worst palettes I’ve had the displeasure of using.
The Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 is another palette that I regret purchasing. Is the quality fine? Sure. But at the end of the day, I regret investing $120.00 into a palette that I don’t feel WOW’d by or inspired to use. Read my full review of the Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 here.
Best Color Names
Although the ColourPop x Disney Villains Misunderstood Palette was a contender for the best packaging, this eyeshadow palette has some of my favorite shade names.
I love that each shade name directly ties to a classic Disney animated film. In particular, I love that the shade No Spots” is a matte white, while the shade “101” is a sooty, black. Read my review of the ColourPop x Disney Villains collection here.
Honorable mention: The Sweet Talk Palette has such cute, flirty Spring-themed names and I love them. However, the Disney-lover in me needed to celebrate the Misunderstood Palette. Read my review on the Disney Midnight Masquerade palette.
Least Used
My least used palette is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette (now discontinued). In the two years I’ve owned this palette, I’ve LITERALLY never used it. In all honesty, my 2018 Pan that Palette Challenge is partly to blame. However, if I don’t use this palette soon I may just sell it.

Most Used
Is it cheating to list a custom-made palette? My custom ColourPop Palette is easily one of my most-used eyeshadow palettes.
I reach for this palette whenever I’m looking for a shimmery, metallic pop that will enhance my eyeshadow without overpowering the look I’ve already crafted. Given the fact that I’ve hand-selected each shade, it makes sense that I would reach for these colors so frequently.
ColourPop is super affordable, but I suggest waiting until one of their BYOP (Build Your Own Palette) sales before investing in a ton of their single shadows. Read about my favorite ColourPop Pressed Single Shadows.
Most Loved
I could have easily listed my beloved Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario for nearly every category. (*cough, cough: best color payoff, most versatile, best for traveling, most used). However, my Perfect Palette Tag post would have been hella boring. Ultimately, there is no palette in my collection that I love more than my Master Palette.
At first glance, the color scheme looks boring. However, it is a perfect, grungy neutral palette. The colors are versatile enough that this palette can be used to create effortlessly glamorous, smoked-out looks as well as easy, everyday eye looks.
In my humble opinion, this is the best eyeshadow palette that Anastasia Beverly Hills created. I die a little inside whenever I watch an Eyeshadow Palette Collection video where someone verbally or physically trashes this palette. Check out my journey trying to pan the Master Palette by Mario.
Final Thoughts on the Perfect Palette Tag
I love posts like tag posts this. They’re eye-opening in the way that they make me more self-aware of my preferences. For example, I wanted to list my Anastasia Beverly Hills x Mario Palette for nearly every single category. This is likely because I know the ins-and-outs of the Master Palette by Mario.
Even though I may love my eyeshadow palettes, this tag has shown me that I need to slow down my purchases. I’m buying new palettes with such speed that I’m not getting a chance to fully vibe with each palette. Right now, it feels like I’ve been speed-dating my makeup.
