Sephora VIB Sale 2019 Haul

Makeup Buys

The bulk of my Sephora VIB Sale 2019 Haul is obviously makeup.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette ($42.00, CF)

When Anastasia Beverly Hills first launched the Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette* early in 2018 I had little interest in this palette. Although the color story was a beautiful mix of warm-toned neutral shades, I didn’t feel drawn to the color story. Flash forward to the current day and cannot get this palette out of my mind. After swatching this in-store, I ultimately picked this up. See where it lands in my Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette Ranking.

Price: $42.00 / $33.60

Cover FX Monochromatic Blush and Bronzer Duos in Mojave Mauve, Pink Dahlia, and Sunkissed Bronze

Cover FX | Monochromatic Blushes ($38.00, CF)

As I sit here and type this, I’m dying a little on the inside. This was the most extravagant purchase I made during this year’s VIB sale. As soon as I saw the Cover FX Monochromatic Blushes* and Bronzers* on the TrendMood‘s Instagram, I knew I’d purchase at least one of these duos. Ultimately, I purchased three of these duos.

After a little “swatch party” with my blushes, I realized that I own mostly neutral, coral, and deep blushes. However, I own very few pink blushes. Needless to say, when I saw the three lightest duos in this talc-free line I lost my self-control. Read my in-depth review on the Cover FX blush duos and see where they rank in my huge blush ranking.

Price: $38.00 (each) / $30.40

Killawatt Highlighter, Universal Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow, Sun Stalk’r Bronzer

Fenty Beauty | Mini Kilawatt Freestyle Highlighter & Lip Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer (Fenty Glow)

Believe it or not, I never tried anything from Fenty Beauty; however, I’ve often swatched the Kilawatt Freestyle Highlighters in store. After much contemplation, I wanted to take the plunge to try one of the brand’s beloved highlighters. The kit I purchased contained a mini version of Hu$tla Baby.*

From a gloss perspective, I watched ten videos with reviews, demos, and comparisons of the Fenty Gloss Bombs. In the end, I chose Fenty Glow.* Ultimately, I decided on picking up the Mini Face & Lip Set (duo now discontinued).

Price: $23.00 / $18.40

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna | Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer in Shady Biz

When I saw the Fenty Bronzers teased on TrendMood’s Instagram, I nearly screamed. Not only am I impressed by the shade range, but the packaging is breath-taking.

Initially, I struggled to choose between the two lightest shades in the line. However, I ultimately selected the shade Shady Biz* after comparing swatches to Inda Sun* (the lightest shade).

Price: $30.00 / $24.00

KORRES | Pomegranate Mattifying Primer

A clean beauty primer that promises to mattify the skin and smooth the appearance of pores? Sign me up.

Even though I don’t obsess over matte foundations, I enjoy pairing matte primers with natural or dewy foundations. While I own a few pore-filling primers, I don’t own a matte primer. However, I’ve heard a few YouTubers rave about the KORRES Pomegranate Mattifying Primer (now discontinued).

Price: $33.00 / $26.40

Milk Makeup | Hydro Grip Primer Mini

Y’all, I have been hyped for this primer. As an oily skinned girl, I’m always intrigued by products that promise to keep my makeup locked in place. Although I don’t use many moisturizing primers, the Hydro Grip Primer looks quite promising.

However, quite a few YouTubers claim that this primer caused breakouts. Therefore, I opted to try the mini size of this primer before committing to the full-size version. Read my review on fan-favorite Milk Makeup products or see where this primer ranks in my collection.

Price: $15.00 / $12.00

Milk Makeup | Tattoo Stamp

I know what you’re thinking. This Star Tattoo Stamp* from Milk is gimmicky. It is. BUT I was so intrigued to try this at the $12.00 price point.

Price: $12.00 /  $10.60

Tatcha | The Silk Canvas Protective Primer Mini

The Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer* is easily one of the hottest primers of the moment. Everyone and their mother raves about how this primer works wonders on their skin to provide the most flawless base. Similar to the Milk Primer, I chose to try the mini version of this cult-favorite primer. Read my in-depth Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer review.

Price: $22.00 / $17.60

Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

Urban Decay | Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

When the Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette* was first released I did not understand the hype. In fact, the palette packaging seemed cheesy. Also, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about the color story.

However, as time wore on, I found myself more drawn to the muted colors. This palette’s color story is what I would refer to as an “approachable” colorful palette. In other words, this is a ‘colorful palette’ for neutral eyeshadow lovers. Also, I was impressed by the in-store swatches of this palette, so I knew I had to take this bad boy home with me. Read my in-depth review of the Born to Run Palette.

Price: $49.00 / $39.20

Skincare Buys

During my Sephora VIB Sale Haul 2019, I only grabbed four skincare products.

IT Cosmetics | Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Eye Cream

I hate myself for loving the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Eye Cream.* However, I cannot deny that my under-eyes definitely miss this brightening eye cream. In fact, this eye cream immediately provides a plumper, brighter, more youthful-looking appearance.

Curious about what skincare products from IT Cosmetics are worth the price tag? Check out this comprehensive brand review on some of the brand’s most famous products.

Price: $48.00 / $38.40

Sol de Janeiro | Mini Coco Cabana Body Fragrance Mist

Ever since trying Sol de Janeiro products at Beautycon NYC, the brand stayed on my mind.  If my finances allowed for it, I’d probably try the entire line. Alas, I’m not a millionaire. Therefore, I’ve been trying products from the brand here and there.

At Beautycon I purchased the larger size Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist.* Therefore, snagged the Coco Cabana Body Fragrance Mist* during the VIB Sale. However, the Coco Cabana scent is polarizing.

Wearers either love or hate the scent. More specifically, the smell is noticeably warmer, more coconut-y, and buttery. While I enjoy the smell, some buyers compared it to popcorn (LOL!).

Price: $19.00  / $15.20

Summer Fridays | Overtime Mask

Is it possible to scroll through the Instagram discover feed without seeing a luxe-looking flat lay displaying the Summer Friday masks? Summer Fridays is a brand that so many skincare junkies rave about on social media.

The Jet Lag mask* is the brand’s most hyped product. However, I decided to grab the Overtime Mask.* It seems like a better fit for my skin’s needs. This mask promises to improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, uneven texture, and pores. Oh, and did I mention that this is certified clean at Sephora?

Price: $44.00 / $38.40

Supergoop! | Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40

2019 is the year of testing sunscreens. Rather than repurchasing my beloved Algenist Sublime Defense Sunscreen* I opted to try new brands this year. So far, I liked the Glossier Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen,* feel “meh” about the La Roche-Posay Athelios Clear Dry-Touch Sunscreen,* and was sorely let down by the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tint.*

Although I’m getting tired of trying out so many sunscreens, I still want to explore a few more brands. Specifically, I want to try COOLA’s and Supergoop!’s much raved about sunscreens. The Unseen Sunscreen by Supergoop!* promises to be weightless, scentless, and invisible. Very curious to see if this lives up to the hype.

Price: $32.00 / $25.60

Final Thoughts on my Huge Sephora VIB Sale 2019 Haul

Honestly, I’m proud of myself for thinking critically about (most of) the purchases from my Sephora VIB Sale 2019 Haul. Before actually buying anything, I removed five or six products from my cart. Also, I swapped out two full-sized products for a mini bundle. Then, I removed items that were duplicates of items in my collection.

There are very few items I’d categorize as *splurges* (cough, cough Cover FX & Anastasia Beverly Hills). Most items I purchased in my Sephora VIB Sale 2019 Haul actually fill a gap or serve a purpose. In fact, this will be my last large haul until my birthday / Christmas approaches (Spoiler: I have a drug store Haul scheduled. However, those items were purchased earlier this year at random times.)
