Persona Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter Review March 14, 2021
Remember the golden age of highlighters back in 2016-2018? If your highlighter couldn’t be seen from outer space, what was the point? Every big beauty guru seemed to claim that they couldn’t complete a makeup look without an ultra-blinding highlight. While I never became as highlighter-obsessed as the rest of the beauty community, I still love and appreciate a beautiful glow. In today’s post, I’m reviewing the Persona Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter.

A Little About Persona
Founded by makeup artist and beauty blogger, Sona Gasparian and her husband Kasra, Persona Cosmetics launched in 2016 with the brand’s best-selling Identity Palette. Since 2016, this self-funded brand has slowly and intentionally released the makeup products that are often the core building blocks of any beauty routine. Moreover, Sona’s expertise as both a professional makeup artist and influencer clearly informs the brand’s releases in terms of functionality, formula, and range.
As I say in every Persona review, I love the brand’s emphasis on the transformative power of makeup. Additionally, I wholeheartedly support their mission to create makeup that helps people to look and feel like the best version of themselves.

Persona Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter Claims
According to Persona, the Cali Glow Highlighter in the shade Zuma will provide a sun-kissed champagne-pearly glow that can be built up for intensity. Also, the brand claims that this shade is perfect for medium skin tones.
Spoiler: I have a fair-light skin tone and the Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter still works on my skin tone. Obviously, I cannot build this highlighter up to the same intensity as someone with a medium skin tone.
Packaging & Price
The Cali Glow Highlighters comes in a beige-nude plastic compact with a large mirror. Inside, there is a huge pan of highlighter. There are 3 shades in the Cali Glow Highlighter Range: Laguna, Zuma, and Del Mar. Each highlighter retails for $24.00.
Is Persona Cruelty Free & Vegan?
Persona is 100% Cruelty-Free. Although not all products in the line are Vegan, Persona makes a number of fully-vegan products. The Cali Glow Highlighter in Zuma is 100% Vegan. Also, this highlighter is Gluten-Free.

Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter Swatches
As always, swatches are not a perfect indicator of quality. However, swatches can provide clues about a product’s color payoff and ability to blend. The below swatches were done using my fingers on a bare arm. No primer.

Capturing highlighter swatches in photos is always a struggle. However, hopefully these swatches of the Persona Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter will give you a better sense of how this highlighter might look on fair skin tones.
Application & Wear-Time
The Persona Cali Glow Highlighters have an extremely soft, malleable formula that makes them easy to apply with a finger or brush. However, using a small, fluffy highlighter brush is my favorite method of application. Use a more densely packed brush for an intensely blinding glow. The pigmentation builds quickly.
The below photos is a *nearly* full face of Persona Cosmetics. I’m wearing the Identity Two Palette on my eyes, the Super-Blushes in Carmel & Georgia on my cheeks, as well as the Cali Glow Highlighters in Zuma & Laguna. Also, I’m wearing the liquid lipstick in OG paired with the brand’s Honey Lipgloss.

As with all Persona products I tried, I experience no issue apply this highlighter. More specifically, I never experience any fallout, transfer, or fading throughout the day. When worn over a primer, my glow still shines through at the end of a 12-hour day.
Where is the Persona Cali Glow Highlighter sold?
The Cali Glow Highlighters are available at Ulta Beauty* and on the Persona website.

Final Thoughts on the Persona Cali Glow Highlighter
Unsurprisingly, I am a huge fan of Persona’s products due to the high quality formulas and intentionality behind each release. And the Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter is no exception – I’ve loved reaching for this highlighter over the last couple of years that I’ve owned it.
Whether you like a subtle glow or a blinding sheen, the Cali Glow Highlighter can be built to your desire. Also, the shade Zuma is particularly versatile in that a soft application will work on fair skin while a more concentrated application will work for medium skin tones. Finally, as someone with oily, textured skin, the Zuma Cali Glow Highlighter never emphasizes my skin’s naturally porous texture.

Even though I probably wouldn’t spend $24 on a highlighter lol (I’m so cheap when it comes to makeup haha), this highlighter looks amazing. I love the packaging and how it looks on you!
