I am fully addicted to makeup, which means I’m constantly buying and trying new products. Despite amassing a rather large collection, I do my best to rotate through my products as much as possible. Given how many formulas I’ve tried and how often I wear makeup, I decided to embark on a journey where I’m showcasing and ranking the items in my collection, category by category.
To date, I’ve ranked my blushes, bronzers and contours, highlighters, and face primers. In today’s post, I’ll doing my foundation collection ranking. If you’re an oily-skinned gal or guy, then this may be helpful for you!
Foundation Collection Ranking
Technically, I’m cheating slightly in my ranking because I no longer own my two lowest-ranked items. However, I’m including them in this roundup because I did try this out in 2019. Also, as someone with oily skin, my least favorite foundations aren’t actually horrible… they just don’t work for my skin type.
My foundation collection is a solid mix of drugstore and high end
9 | Bali Body BB Cream SPF 15 – Natural (CF, $29.95 USD)
Does the Bali Body BB Cream provide a natural, radiant finish to the skin? Yes, but sadly it also makes me look like a greasy mess no matter how much I set my face. For this reason, I can only use this mixed with another mattifying foundation.
The NudeStix Tinted Blur Stixis a great option for oily-skinned guys or gals who wanted the light wash of color provided by the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint without the overly oily and emollient formula. The NudeStix blur feels lightweight and comfortable throughout the day.
After having such a horrible experience with the Photo Focus Foundation, I was a little apprehensive about how I’d feel about Miliani’s super hyped Conceal + Perfect foundation. However, I’m stoked to say that this full coverage foundation is amazing quality at the drugstore for anyone in need of a full-coverage, long-lasting base. The only major drawback is the limited shade range and in-store distribution.
An oily-skinned girl loving the Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation? Yes. This foundation provides a skin-like finish and a luminous glow. Although it is not the most long-wearing foundation, I do enjoy wearing this, but be cautioned: this needs to be set with a powder and setting spray if you have oily skin.
5 | Maybelline Superstay Full Coverage 24-Hour Foundation – Classic Ivory ($12.49 USD)
When it comes to drugstore face products, Maybelline remains a leader. The Superstay Full Coverage 24 Hour Foundation provides buildable, full coverage in a formula that lasts all day on the skin without looking or feeling heavy or cakey on the skin. This foundation does oxidize, but not enough to deter me from using this up!
Is the Revlon Photready Insta-Filter Foundationflattering on the skin? Hell yea. This is one of the most beautiful finishes at the drugstore – it makes the skin look naturally radiant without being too glowy. Although pricey, this is a beautiful finish.
Urban Decay’s Naked Weightless Foundation is an amazing medium coverage mattifying primer that lasts all day on my oily skin without breaking apart, fading, or feeling too heavy. I would certainly recommend to other oily-skinned individuals.
2 | Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer – Nude ($45.00 USD)
Aside from Maybelline’s Fit Me Foundation, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer might be my most repurchased foundation product. I love how this formula provides light coverage and still feels light on the skin.
Obviously, I did not include the deluxe foundation samples within my foundation collection ranking. Simply put, I did not try any of these foundations yet.
Final Thoughts on my Foundation Collection Ranking
My foundation collection is way larger than it normally would be. Why? Once again, I wanted to try out a bunch of new formulas and finishes in both new and classic formulas. As I’ve gotten older, I tend to reach for light-to-medium coverage foundations, but don’t mind a full coverage foundation as long as it doesn’t look or feel heavy on my skin.
Believe it or not, my skin is actually so naturally oily, that my face feels less oily and more comfortable on days when I’m wearing base makeup.
Disclaimer:I am in not intending to brag about my beauty collection or to show off wealth. I work hard to buy what I own. So much of what is in my collection has been purchased at a discount or given to me as a gift.
