The Best Blush Ranking for Oily Skin

When it comes to finding the perfect blush, I look for formulas that seamlessly blend into the skin without emphasizing texture or appearing artificial. I need my blushes to look and feel like I have naturally radiant, flush cheeks. If you’re the same, please keep reading my best blush ranking for oily, textured skin.

Creme Blushes

When I originally worked out my best blush ranking, my cream blush collection was super small. However, with the rising popularity of cream products, my collection has since expanded.

7 | ColourPop Super Shock Blush – Thumper ($10.00, CF)

Here’s the thing: ColourPop makes dope affordable products. More specifically, the Super Shock formula is one of the coolest products from the brand. In fact, I’m *obsessed* with the Super Shock Shadows –  see my epic Super Shock Shadow ranking. Also, I love the Super Shock Highlighters (see them ranked in my glowing highlighter ranking).

That being said, I’m not in love with the Super Shock Blush formula. Sadly, the Super Shock Blushes are hard to apply on the cheeks. Picking up product, building pigmentation, and blending on the cheeks is difficult. As someone with fair skin, I can only imagine how much more difficult this would be for deeper skin tones.

Additionally, I actually forgot that I owned this product until it was time to write up this post. Finally, as with most ColourPop products, Thumper is now discontinued.

6 | Nudestix Nudies In Bloom – Tiger Lily Queen ($32.00. CF)

The Nudestix Nudies In Bloom formula is meant to provide a radiant, dewy flush to the cheeks and it does just that! The shade Tiger Lily Queen* is a beautiful, vibrant orange-toned coral shade that is perfect for summer.

Despite being providing a radiant, dewy finish, Tiger Lily Queen does not emphasize texture or pores. Instead, this provides a glowing, flush appearance to the cheeks. That being said, oily girls and guys will need to set their cheeks to help this cream blush last all day.

Ultimately, this bright coral is ranked lower in this ranking solely due to the seasonal nature of the color.

5 | Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Stain – Werk ($14.00, CF)

I fully understand why the Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek Stain* is a bestselling product from the brand. First, the shade Werk flattering across a wide variety of skin tones. Second, the gel-stick formula is easy to blend out on the cheeks. Third, this blush plays well with other products and will last on oily skin throughout the day. 4 | ColourPop Peony for Your Thoughts Blush Stix Duo ($8.00 each, CF) – Now discontinued

Simply put, these ColourPop Blush Stix are extremely pigmented, bright blushes that can be easily buffed out to provide a natural flush to my cheeks. These are amazing quality at a super affordable price tag. The vibrant pink shade, Flamenco, is now discontinued. However, Mini Me is still available.

3 | Nudestix Nudies Matte Blush Stick – In the Nude ($32.00, CF)

The Nudestix cream blush sticks were one of the most hyped releases of 2019. In fact, they helped to usher in the trend for cream-stick blush products.

The shade In the Nude* is a perfect cream blush for no-makeup makeup days, given how natural the color looks on the skin. However, compared to other items in my collection, this is rather expensive. Check out my huge indie beauty haul here.

2 | KOSAS – Color & Light Palettes ($34.00 each, CF)

In 2019, I was lucky enough to pick up three of KOSAS’s Color & Light Palettes for 50% Off. And DAMN. The KOSAS cream blush formula truly is as good as everyone says it is. These cream blushes blend out to provide the cheeks with the most natural, healthy flush. Also, the KOSAS blushes are easy to apply with fingers or a brush.

1 | Glossier Cloud Paints – Beam & Dusk ($18.00 each, CF) 

The Glossier Cloud Paints* are a well-loved product for a reason. These blushes are the epitome of a natural, radiant, flush cheeks. The formula blends out like a dream, looks natural, and lasts throughout the day… even on oily skin!

Powder Blushes

Unlike my creme blush collection ranking, my powder blush collection was harder to rank. My favorite and least favorite blushes were easy to pull out, but the middle blushes were trickier.

13 | Laura Geller Baked Blush ($9.54, CF) – now discontinued

I’ve owned this baked blush from Laura Geller for at least two years. However, I never once reached for it due to the cool-toned purple color. Honestly, I purchased this blushbecause it was unique in my collection. But there was a good reason why I don’t own shades like this.

13 | ColourPop Pressed Powder Blush – Main Chick ($10.00, CF) – now discontinued

The ColourPop Pressed Powder Blush in the shade Main Chick was surprisedly good. Why surprising? I had a horrible experience with the ColourPop Pressed Powder Bronzer, while this blush provides a perfect pop of summery-looking flush to the cheeks.

12 | bareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush – But First, Coffee ($24.00, CF)

Although I love the Gen Nude Powder Blush formula. However, I ranked But First, Coffee* lower simply due to the color. This deep beige-brown shade is almost too pigmented for my skin. Given that I need to be ultra-careful when using this blush, I only reach for this when I know I’ll have time to blend and build my blush slowly.

11 | NARS Blush – Zen ($30.00) – now discontinued 

Like my MAC blush, my NARS Zen Blush is one of the oldest and most well-loved blushes. This is a staple blush in my collection due to the brown-toned, nude hue and ease of application.

10 | Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duo – Spiced Cinnamon  ($38.00, CF)

Spiced Cinnamon* is my lowest ranked Cover FX Monochromatic Blush. Ultimately, this shade is just a little too deep for me. Therefore, I need to carefully apply this to the cheeks. 9 | Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duo – Warm Honey  ($38.00, CF)

Warm Honey* is another beautiful shade in the Cover FX Monochromatic Blush line. However, I do not reach for this shade as much as the other shades in the range. The tone is much deeper than the other shades I own, so I only wear this color on days when I’m wanting to rock a super rosy look.

8 | Ofra x Samantha March Chick Lit Blush Duo ($35.00, CF)

The Ofra x Samantha March Chick Lit Blush is an incredibly pigmented deep rose blush that adds a radiant flush to the cheeks. It will work on a wide variety of skin tones. Also, each pan can easily be worn alone or combined together to add a beautiful flush. Read my full review on the Ofra x Samantha March collection.

7 | bareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush – Lets Go Nude ($24.00, CF)

I love brown and beige-toned nude blushes, so when I came across the Gen Nude Blushes at Marshalls I needed to exercise serious restraint. Even I recognized that I couldn’t I couldn’t purchase every color in the range.

Let’s go Nude is a mid-toned beige terra-cotta powder blush that feels super creamy. Also, it blends with ease on the cheeks. The color is highly pigmented so a little product goes a long way. And oh, did I mention that this blush was Talc-free?

6 | Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duo – Mohave Mauve  ($38.00, CF)

Of the Cover FX Monochromatic Duos I own, I reach for Mohave Mauve* the least. Spoiler alert, Soft Peach is my go-to shade for most days and Pink Dahlia is my preferred cool-toned pink. However, I expect this blush will get more love this Fall since the deeper, mauve hue will pair well with autumnal-inspired makeup looks.

5 | Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duo – Pink Dahlia ($38.00, CF)

The Pink Dahlia Blush Duo* is a cool-toned pink blush that adds a bright flush pop to the cheeks. When I’m creating a pink makeup look, this is the blush that I typically reach for.

4 | Persona Cosmetics SuperBlushes ($22.00, CF)

Y’all know that I am a huge Persona Cosmetics fan, from her Identity Palette to her Season One Liquid Lipsticks and her Season One Lip Glosses. Needless to say, I freaked out when the brand launched the new Superblushes. The shades Carmel* and Georgia.* These blushes provide a natural, healthy flush without emphasizing texture.

3 | ColourPop x Disney Midnight Masquerade Blushes ($12.00, CF) – now discontinued

Wow. Honestly, from the packaging to the product itself, the Midnight Masquerade Blushes are complete perfection. These blushes are some of the most reached for in my collection. I wish these were a permanent edition to the ColourPop line. I own the shades inspired by Belle, Tiana, and Esmerelda.

2 | Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duo – Soft Peach ($38.00, CF)

The Monochromatic Blush Duos from Cover FX were one of the best releases of 2019. Although I picked up three different duos, my favorite is the Soft Peach Duo.* It is perfect for every day.

1 | MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Skin Finish – Warm Soul ($30.00)

Without a doubt, the MAC Cosmetics Warm Soul Blush is the oldest and most well-loved blush in my collection due to the soft, buildable pigmentation and naturally radiant flush that this blush gives the cheeks. I love wearing this on its own or over matte blushes as a topper.

Final Thoughts on the Best Blush Ranking

Although I’ve been very drawn to blush recently, I typically lust after bronzer, highlighter, and eyeshadow. There is only so much color variety one can wear on the cheeks.

If it wasn’t apparent from my blush collection ranking, I prefer powder blushes to cream blushes simply because they are easier to maintain throughout the day. I prefer soft, buildable formulas to highly pigmented ones.

In terms of color, I love a good neutral or peachy-toned blush. These give a natural flush to my cheeks. However, I appreciate a brighter, coral color during the warm weather. In contrast, I don’t often gravitate towards mauve, purple-toned, or cool-toned pink shades.

Overall, I own 18 blush singles worth a value of $374.00 USD. As a reminder, the value is NOT the equivalent to what I paid. In fact, out of the above blushes, I only paid full price for the Cover FX Soft Peach Blush Duo. Nearly everything else was purchased on sale or at an Off-price or Outlet Retailer.
