Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches Review September 8, 2020
Are affordable, direct-to-consumer skincare brands like the Ordinary, the Inkey List and Good Molecules, are these inexpensive brands really worth the hype? In today’s post, I’m sharing my review of the Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches.
About my Skin
Before we delve into this review, it is important for you to understand my skin story. First, I am in my mid-twenties, so I largely look for skincare solutions that are preventative or that will minimize the appearance of my fine lines. In terms of my skin-type, my skin is extremely oily and acne prone. Additionally, it is sensitive to fragrance.
Lifestyle-wise, I do not smoke or drink excessively. However, my sleep schedule is poor. In fact, many days I sleep 4 hours or less. As such, under-eye darkness and fine lines are a major concern of mine. With my very fair complexion, my dark circles are very apparent.

A Little Bit About Good Molecules
The idea behind Good Molecules is simple: skincare that works at a fair price. Founded by a team of beauty industry veterans, Good Molecules creates skincare solutions with best-in-class ingredients, backed by research and formulated for effectiveness. By working directly with top labs, Good Molecules offers products that target skin issues—like acne, redness, and hyperpigmentation—without the traditional retail markup. See a difference in your skin, starting at just $6.
Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches Claims
Get a bright, wide-awake look—no matter how much sleep you got the night before—with Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches from Good Molecules. These caffeine-infused hydrogel masks work to brighten, hydrate, and reduce puffiness around the eyes in just 10 minutes. They’re the perfect quick pick-me-up for puffy, tired-looking eyes.

Packaging & Price
Like all Good Molecules products, the Hydrogel Eye Patches come in simple plastic packaging. Additionally, inside the twist top jar is a plastic covering and a plastic spatula to separate the patches from each other.
Also, within each jar there are 60 individual patches. Said another way, there are 30 patches. Finally, a single jar retails for $18.00.
Ingredients
Below is a list of the top 10 ingredients used in the Good Molecules Hydrogel Eye Patches. Also, I’ve described the typical benefits and uses of each ingredient within skincare. However, it is important to note that I am not a specialist or licensed professional – just an enthusiast. Ingredients are listed in descending order based on the amount of each component used in the formula.
Ingredient | Main Use |
Glycerin | Humectant that prevents dryness and protects the skin’s natural barrier. |
Niacinamide | Minimizes enlarged pores, tightens lax pores, and improve uneven skin tones. Also, it may help soften fine lines and wrinkles, diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened surface of the skin. |
Carrageenan | Seaweed gum used as a thickening agent with water-binding properties in cosmetics. |
Caffeine | Provides soothing and antioxidant properties that can penetrate the skin. Also, caffeine produces a constricting effect. This can help improve the look of redness but also may be sensitizing. |
Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 | Calms, smoothes, hydrates, and firms the skin. In fact, common uses include reducing under-eye puffiness. |
Ceratonia Siliqua (Carob) Gum | Film-forming & skin-tightening agent. |
Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum | thickens, emulsifies, and stabilizes many cosmetic formulations. |
Cellulose Gum | acts as a natural thickener. Also, this natural ingredient acts as a film-forming agent. |
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil | protects against wrinkles and soothes problematic skin. |
Overall, the patches include a powerful mix of proven-ingredients that impact the efficacy and experience of the product..
Is Good Molecules Cruelty-Free and Vegan?
The Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches are 100% Cruelty-Free and Vegan. More specifically, this means that these products (and ingredients) are not tested on animals. Also, they do not contain any animal by-products.

How to apply the Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches
First, peel the two patches from the inside jar using your finger or the plastic spatula provided. Second, gently place each patch underneath the eyes. Third, let the patches sit for 15 minutes or until they start to dry down. Finally, remove the patches to continue with the rest of your beauty routine.
Also, according to the Good Molecules website, these patches are suitable for daily use. However, I personally recommend using the patches 2-3 times a week when your under eyes need a boost of brightness.

Where are the Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches sold?
The eye patches are sold on Beautylish and the Good Molecules website.
Final Thoughts on the Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches
I would have never purchased the Good Molecules Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches on my own. Typically, eye patches and sheet mask products are more gimmicky than effective. However, I received these patches when they exclusively launched in the Vol. 3 Trendmood Box. Overall, I am so glad that I tried these patches!
After the first use of the Hydrogel Eye Patches, the results blew me away. In fact, I was surprised by how effectively these patches brightened the appearance of my under-eye area. Nevertheless, the first few patches in the jar are almost too saturated. However, the patches become easier to use as the product ages. To note, waiting too long to use up the patches may lead to these goodies drying out!
Personally, I do not use these patches every day. In general, daily usage quickly adds up. Also, daily usage seems wasteful and time consuming. Therefore, my preferred cadence is to use these patches 1-2 times a week.

Oh, these sound really good, LP! I definitely need something for my undereye area and it’s good to know they work- and would be more for a treat! Terrific review!
I was impressed by these! I actually ended up repurchasing – which is rare for me these days LOL! 😂 I wanted to show a before / after but it just didn’t work out for me this past week
Did you try the The Ordinary Caffeine eye thing. When I worked the early shift at Douglas they were my best friend. You know, with sleeping about 3-4 hours XD they depuffed my eyes (they are usually pretty swollen when I wake up and they were so brightening!
I’ll tell you the name precisely if you want and they might be a bit more convenient than patches. You’ll need a drop and it’ll be enough for both eyes. (can you tell I’m trying so hard to sell them to you?)
lmao I haven’t tried these! Do they work on dark circles? That’s my issue more than puffing!
Yep, I meant to say that but I got overexcited
hahahahaha
Honestly, I would never have even thought about using these if you hadn’t mentioned them on this post. I have pretty horrible dark circles so I will definitely give these a try and use them a few times a week as you mentioned.
I literally thought these were going to be a gimmick, so I was happily surprised to see that they actually worked out for me! LOL
These sound good! I’ve never tried eye patches that actually worked lol so I might need to give these a try!
lmao – I hadn’t either. At first, I wasn’t as sure about the results but when I used them a second time I was blown away. Even my boyfriend saw the difference in my under eye bags LOLOLOL!
I actually already ordered a backup since I am so obsessed with these! So you know I really like them, then!
I’d not heard of Good Molecules before, maybe they’ve not made their way to the UK yet? Although I have used The Ordinary & The Inkey List before with nice results. If they do become available in the UK, I’ll definitely try them out – they sound really good. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them. Ps. It’s so helpful how you’ve done the table of ingredients! xx
I believe that Good Molecules is available in the UK through their website or Beautylish. They’re def not as known as The Ordinary or The Inkey List but super similar.
And I’m so glad you liked the table – this is the first time that I’ve tried adding an ingredient table like this in a post! Will definitely do this in the future.
I love a good eye mask! I’m currently using a really cheap one that’s sold locally to me but I wanna try more high-end ones to see if there really is a difference. Heard a lot of good stuff about Good Molecules recently! 😊

oooh I’m so curious – what are you currently using?? I love finding affordable brands to talk about because they are much more inclusive to a broader range of people!!
I’ve heard of Good Molecules before, but I have yet to try any of their products. These patches sound amazing! Like you, I don’t always get enough sleep, so these seem like they would be great to have and use a couple times throughout the week to brighten under my eyes.
lolol I was actually shocked that I liked these. My boyfriend was like, ‘oh wow – what did you use on your eyes’ hahahaha
Oooh saaame girl. My sleep schedule is waaacckkk. Lately, I’ve been having some pretty intense dark circles. I purchased a cream by Loreal to kind of help but the lack of sleep is really setting me back lol. Wow, I need to get these. I’ve never heard of this brand. I love getting introduced to different brands through your posts girl!
Thanks for sharing!

LMAO my sleep schedule has been total trash since being stuck at home, but I’m glad you discovered a new brand through this post!
I’m having trouble opening your blog on my feed… no pictures, no commenting or in the last few post I cannot open them at all… weird!
Hey girl! After my summer break from blogging, I didn’t realized that I accidentally left some unfinished blog post drafts scheduled until the posts published. I deleted or privated all the posts where that happened (which were the last 2 back-to-back posts), but unfortunately, the blog titles still show up in people’s feeds.
I honestly agree, and have been told by a skin specialist, that eye creams/patches etc are mostly gimmicky and never actually really do anything, so as of recent i’ve kinda given up on eye products! That being said, these eye patches look super fun haha and from your review they seem to work pretty well! I’ve heard of this brand but I don’t think it’s sold where I live, otherwise i’d probably pick them up and give them a go!
aw I do see a big difference with eye creams (my dark circles are legit the worst), but these exceeded my expectations! I was honestly shocked that I saw a difference but obviously these don’t do any long term fixing. But handy after a night of no sleep LOL!
Ooo these sound fantastic! Like you, I often have a poor relationship with sleep, so anything to make my eyes look brighter and more awake is a must for me. These sound great and because they’re affordable, it would really persuade me to invest in them.
Have you ever tried Sunday Riley’s Autocorrect Eye Cream? It’s pricey, but it’s the only eye cream I’ve ever used that brightens the appearance of my eyes in the short-term and in the long-term. From what you’ve described, I think you’d really love this eye cream
LMAO same – my under eye circles are out of this world! I haven’t tried the Sunday Riley eye cream, but I trust your recommendation. I need to see if I can hunt down a sample!
Girl, I can relate to the part of not sleeping enough lol. I have never tried any kind of eye patches before, but these sound amazing. Will have to keep these in mind.
