[…] I normally don’t read a lot of beauty blogs, because generally I just do my own thing and don’t give a lot of shit about what people think about it (and some beautyblogs are just too affiliated for my personal taste). But The Newbury Girl is different. My path to the blog was through Instagram and what attracts me to this site is a very pleasant visual look and a smart mix of topics, that I will characterise as beauty inside and out. This is being explained in the About-pages too: “While I love the beauty industry, true beauty is more than skin deep. When we’re healthy, happy, and leading fulfilling lives, that radiates.”(The Newbury Girl)To me, this is taking the regular beautyblog to another level and it is doing so with lots of colours (and I’m a sucker for colours) and life in the written word. One of the posts I really love is the Busy Boycott series, but you can start with this one, where we are on the verge of entering the chal…. […]
The Busy Boycott 2018 Introduction September 11, 2018
Are you tired of letting your to-do list run your life? Me too. Read the Busy Boycott 2018 introduction to learn more about how you can challenge yourself to slow down and simplify.
I’m not sure if my hammering headache or the thudding of the rain outside my window is louder. Either way, the constant drumming rhythm is adding to my exhaustion.
Between an overbearing workload, my never-ending move, and my incomplete graduate school applications, I am feeling overworked and overwhelmed. But I am tired of letting business run me down.
This Fall, I want to make a change. This Fall I am participating in the Busy Boycott 2018.
The Busy Boycott 2018 Introduction
While reading one of my favorite minimalism blogs, Be More With Less, I came across the Busy Boycott. Be More With Less is a wonderful blog written and run by Courtney Carver. Her blog focuses on simple living and investing time in the things in life that matter to you.
Like other minimalist advocates, Courtney provides tips for decluttering and organizing your life. However, the core purpose of her blog is to inspire people to live intentional lives. She describes what it means to be more with less:
Be more you. Give yourself all the space, time and love to remember who you are. Living with less clutter, busyness, and stress will help you make the room to do what you need to do. Simplifying my life gave me the space, time, and love to be more me, and the following practices led me back.
Like so many others, I want to have time to do the things that I am most passionate about. I don’t want to spend hours working through to-do lists and busy tasks.
I was intrigued when I saw Courtney post about the Busy Boycott Challenge. The Busy Boycott is a free, 21-day challenge that takes place from September 10th – 30th.
One great aspect to this challenge is the ability to participate no matter where you live or what your current situation is like.
Why the Busy Boycott?
No matter where you’re based or what your ultimate goal is, the Busy Boycott is meant to inspire you to break free from the business epidemic plaguing society. Throughout the course, participants will have access to a private Facebook group, live Q&A sessions with Courtney, and email resources.
Because I don’t want this post to be a thousand words, I am going to delve into Week #1’s challenge and insights in my next blog post. As recently promised, I will be delving into my major decluttering & minimalism journey.

Great post, LP! Of course I love this idea. I would definitely be reading and traveling more if work didn’t keep me so busy (and drained). ♥️ I look forward to your next posts!
Hi Jennifer!! Thank you so much for sharing – your comments are always so encouraging! ❤️ Hopefully you will have time for more traveling and reading soon!!
I’m curious. Will check out the next parts.
But September 10-21 is not 21 days…
Whoops! That was an error on my part – this challenge ran through the 30th (I’ve since updated this)! It was definitely eye opening to see just how much business (particularly from work) was dominating my life / my conversations. Thanks for your comment. ☺️
