Summer 2020 Skincare Empties Roundup

After a two-month blogging hiatus and a summer-long eczema flare up, I took most of the summer off from wearing makeup products. Moreover, I fell behind with sharing my quarterly empties updates. In today’s post, I share my Summer 2020 skincare empties.

Why Do I Share My Skincare Empties?

If you read my 2020 beauty collection inventory, then you’d know that I own a super large makeup collection. As such, I set a goal to work through roughly one third of my collection. However, although I know that I won’t reach that goal, I am still actively trying to use the products I own.

My 20 in 2020 Project Pan is one of the ways I am focusing in on makeup products to use up. However, outside of that project, I am still actively working out skincare and body care items in my collection.

Summer 2020 Skincare Empties

Bite Beauty – Agave Lip Scrub | discontinued, CF

I received the Agave Lip Scrub when I visited the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in Los Angeles. I enjoyed using this lip scrub when my lips felt super chapped and dry. However, this lip scrub has since been discontinued and reformulated.

Clinique – Mini City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask + Scrub | $18.83

I don’t understand why the Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask* doesn’t get more hype. This charcoal mask worked wonders for the clogged pores around my nose and T-Zone. With 1-2 uses of this powerful mask, breakouts dried and cleared up.

Fresh – Deep Hydration Face Cream Mini | $12.60

Even though, I’ve loved the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser* for many years, I’ve very little of the brand’s other skincare products. Overall, I enjoyed the Fresh Deep Hydration Face Cream* for the lightweight, gel-like texture and noticeable skin-plumping effect on my skin.

Fresh – Soy Face Cleanser & Mini Soy Face Cleanser | $38.00 & $7.33, respectively

The Fresh Soy Face Cleanser* is my all-time favorite and most repurchased cleanser. I love how gentle, but effective this gel cleanser is for my sensitive, acne-prone skin. I will certainly repurchase this.

Indeed Labs – In-circadian Night Mask | $24.99, CF

Earlier this year I received the Indeed Labs In-Circadian Night Mask* complimentary through Influenster. At the time I received this mask, my skin was angry and inflamed from the worst eczema flare up in my life.

Although I felt apprehensive about trying this nourishing overnight mask, I was thrilled at the way the In-Circadian Night Mask provided lasting hydration to my dry, sensitive, stressed out skin.

Milk Makeup – Vegan Milk Cleanser | $30.00, CF

As some of you know, I am obsessed with Milk Makeup. Most known for their minimalist, multi-use makeup, the brand launched new vegan additions their skincare range.

First, I hated the scent of the Vegan Cleanser* – a mix of floral and plastic. However, the cleanser grew on me with time. This felt cleansing without being too harsh or stripping.

Olehenriksen – Banana Bright Eye Cream | $19.00, CF

Prior to my eczema flare up, I enjoyed the Banana Bright Eye Cream.* It provided a slight brightening effect; however, I still prefer my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye.* Unfortunately, after my flare up, the eye cream irritated my eye, so I couldn’t use the remaining back up I owned.

Olehenriksen – C-Rush Brightening Gel Cream | $31.50 (value), CF

Similar to the above eye cream, I loved the C-Rush Brightening Gel Cream* prior to my eczema flare up. This lightweight, gel moisturizer made my skin look brighter and bouncy. Sadly, after my flare up, the citrus fragrance irritated my sensitized skin.

Olehenriksen – Truth Serum | $24.00, CF

Olehenriksen’s famous Truth Serum* is a well-known, hyped Vitamin-C serum with an overpowering, fake citrus smell. I’m sad to say that I saw no noticeable improvements in my skin after using this serum steadily for 3 months.

Patchology – FlashMasque Hydrate 5 Minute Sheet Mask | $8.00, CF

I received a Patchology FlashMasque Hydrate Sheet Mask in a Beautycon Hauler bag. I was surprised by how much I liked this mask. I saw results immediately – my skin looked healthy, hydrated, and bright.

Ren – Clean Screen Mattifying Face Sunscreen SPF 30 | $38.00, CF

I wanted to love the Clean Screen Mattifying Face Sunscreen* because of how hard it is to find an effective, reef safe sunscreen. Although this sunscreen protected my skin from the sun, it felt sticky and heavy. Moreover, this sunscreen created a white cast on my already pale skin.

In 2020, I decided to include single-use samples within my beauty inventory spreadsheet.  After accumulating too many samples in 2019, I knew that including samples in my inventory would help motivate me to use my samples before they go bad. However, given that these were single-use products, I will not be providing my thoughts on the actual products.

Final Thoughts on Summer 2020 Skincare Empties Roundup

Surprisingly, I finished fewer skincare products than makeup products over the last six months. In part, this is due to the flare up that caused me to press pause on my entire beauty routine.

Although I finished some products that I enjoyed, I am not planning to repurchase any of the aforementioned products prior to 2021. Currently, I own way too many skincare products to justify any repurchases.
