LOL – my 2019 Beauty Low Buy July update is a complete failure. Please keep reading to understand why this month was such an utter failure.
2019 Beauty Low Buy Rules
- I cannot spend more than $75.00 on NEW cosmetics in a given month
- Exclusions: haircare (I have a sensitive scalp), skincare, repurchases (if I have no suitable alternative ex. concealer)
- Dollars not spent in a given month can roll forward, but cannot be pulled forward
- Ex. If I want to buy a $90.00 eyeshadow palette in May, I cannot pull $15.00 forward. I would need to wait until June to buy the palette.
- Exclusions: Items received via influencer networks, as gifts, or purchased via gift cards do NOT count against the dollar value
What I Actually Bought in July
I am super embarrassed by how much I spent while trying to maintain a “Beauty Low Buy” this month. Therefore, I will not share this month’s spend. However, to give you an idea of how much I spent this month just know that I spent at least $40 on each of the below brands:
- ColourPop
- Dose of Colors
- Jouer Cosmetics
- KKW Beauty
- Kylie Cosmetics
- Melt Cosmetics
- Milani Cosmetics
- Nudestix
- Suva Beauty
- Uoma Beauty
2019 Beauty Low Buy July Update: Navigating the Emotional Extremes of Excessive Makeup Buying
As a whole, 2019 has been a challenging year for me and this Summer has been particularly heartbreaking. As a result of my major emotional slide and extreme school-related stress, I did two things:
I Took a Month-long Blogging Hiatus
For the first time in over half a year, I took a blogging hiatus. In fact, I stopped reading, writing, and scheduling blog posts altogether.
Between my personal struggles, my jobs, and my coursework, I felt burnt out and lacking the inspiration to write posts or shoot content. However, I stayed active on Twitter and Instagram. I needed time away from my blog to take care of myself. To read more about my hiatus, click here.
Heads up: if it seems like I’m MIA reading & supporting blogs this month it is because I’m taking a short blogging hiatus/break during the month of July while I finish my Accelerated Summer course.
Will be back in action writing posts and supporting others later this month. 💞

Bought Everything I Saw During the 4th of July Sales
Ummm yeah. This was bad… really bad.
Essentially, I went on a week-long beauty bender. More specifically, I bought anything and everything that I fancied. It didn’t matter whether the item was on sale or not.
Stress and fear of failure is a major trigger for my online shopping. The Fourth of July sales served as a convenient excuse to purchase whatever I wanted.
Did I snag a ton of dope products at a steep discount? Hell yeah. Did I spend way beyond my means? Hell yeah. Am I paying for it now? Hell yeah.
If you are like me, please consider reading this post on my makeup addiction or this post helping you determine your own spending issues. Finally, consider reading this post on the addictive nature of online shopping.
KKW Beauty Best of Pink Lipsticks, Liquid Concealer + Pressed Pigment #3
Because of my reaction this month, I decided that I am going to try to further limit my spending. I am going to put myself on a strict No-Buy from in August, September, and October. Therefore, I will only be allowed to repurchase foundation/concealer, hair care, or skincare if I run out of something and have no suitable backup.
Editor’s note: I did not end up going on a No Buy until November 2019. I continued to let hype and stress dictate how I spent my money this fall.
