Y’all I had the toughest time finding the right words to describe the Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 palette. Not all products are easily defined as being “bad” or “good.” Some products live in the gray area. With that said, keep reading for my in-depth review of the Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 Eyeshadow Palette
About Viseart
Viseart was founded by a former model, Anastasia Sparrow, in 2012 after she realized that there was a need in the market for high-quality, long-lasting cosmetics that wouldn’t irritate the skin or cause any allergic reactions. The brand quickly filled a gap in the pro beauty market and garnered a reputation for high-quality products.
Since Viseart’s initial launch, the brand slowly expanded into consumer-led products. Click here to read more about Viseart.
Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 Palette Claims
The Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 is a limited-edition all-matte eyeshadow palette that comes in the brand’s simple, flexible magnetized packaging. This palette includes 6 shades from previous Viseart palettes, as well as 24 new shades.
I purchased this palette after watching several reviews from one of my favorite YouTubers, Stephanie Nicole. She raved about the Viseart formula. Typically, I trust her opinion. If you’re curious for her thoughts, check out her review here.

Price & Packaging
This palette includes a mix of 30 matte shadows ranging from neutral to colorful shadows. The Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 comes in simple, flexible packaging that pro artists can easily grip while doing makeup on clients. Also, there is a plastic sheet that covers the shadows. This helps to keep the shadows from getting everywhere.
Unfortunately, there are no shade names for the shadows in this palette. Although this would normally bother me, I don’t mind the lack of shade names. This does not bother me given that the shadows can be easily swapped out.
The Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 retails for $150.00. However, I purchased this for $120.00 during Sephora‘s November 2018 VIB Sale. When this palette originally launched, it sold for $175.00. The original packaging was far more elaborate.
Ingredients & Cruelty-Free Status
The Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 contains talc, but it does not contain silicone, petrochemicals, gluten, mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. Despite not containing the above ingredients, Viseart is still not considered a Clean makeup brand.
This palette is not tested on animals as Viseart is Cruelty-Free. For some affordable Cruelty-Free brands that won’t break the bank, check out this post.
Also, amazingly, these shadows have a 3-year expiry period. This 3X longer than many other popular palettes!
Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 Palette Swatches
Swatches are not a perfect indicator of eyeshadow performance. However, provide performance cues. [2020 edit – I’m so embarrassed by these horrible-looking swatches.] Per usual, I’ve swatched each eyeshadow on my inner arm without any primer. Each color was swatched using a finger (top) and brush (bottom).
Overall, these Viseart shadows are much drier than the majority of the shadows in my collection. In particular, the formula of the neutral shades is powdery and produces a lot of kickback. Meanwhile, the bright colors feel dry as dirt.
Column I – II:
- Column I: The colors in the left-most columns are the lightest shades in the palette. Swatched, the differences looked subtle. Even on my pale skin, the colors did not show up well.
- Column II: The shades in column II were slightly more vibrant, but the overall mix still looked neutral.
Column III – V:
- Column III swatched the easiest. Also these shades applied the easiest on the eyes. This column includes a medium-dark mix of browns and purples.
- Column IV contained the most colorful shades in the palette. However, these swatched worse than many affordable palettes that I own. Also, the purple and deep blue are easily the driest matte shadows I’ve ever felt.
- Column V contained the deepest shades in the palette. This includes a mix of browns, purple, and blue colors. These shadows looked extremely pigmented when swatched.
Application & Wear-time
First, I commend Viseart for creating a formula that truly is long-wearing on the eyes. The neutral shadows’ ability to blend impressed me.
Also, the dark shadows performed well when packed onto the eye with a dense brush. However, the dark shadows in the Viseart Grande Pro Palette Volume 1 seemed to blend away into nothing.
Additionally, the bright shadows felt drier than the Sahara Desert. I’m sad to say that I own less expensive rainbow palettes that perform much better than this palette.
Where is the Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 sold?
Viseart products can be purchased at Sephora, Muse Beauty, and Viseart’s online shop.

Final Thoughts on the Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 Palette
I’m sad to say it, but the Viseart Grande Pro Volume 1 was my biggest product regret of 2019. However, I want to be clear. I do not regret purchasing this palette due to quality issues. I regret this palette because the palette is too expensive for what it is. Ultimately, I cannot recommend a palette this expensive for quality that was just okay.
Additionally, even though everyone in the beauty community seems to live for matte shadows, I don’t. Therefore, this palette fails to inspire me in the way that I thought it would. Without shimmers, this palette feels incomplete.
Moreover, I do not recommend this palette to any beginners to makeup. First, the price is too steep. Second, the shadows take a lot of effort to build and the formula is dry.
Nevertheless, the Grande Pro Volume 1 may be a worthwhile investment for aspiring makeup artists looking to build their kits. For professionals, this palette could be worth the investment.
Would I purchase a Viseart palette again? Sure – but I won’t purchase another one of the large all matte palettes. Instead, I’d rather try one of the mini palettes.
