Spoiler alert: I am an oily-skinned makeup addict who is constantly looking out for the best product to make my makeup last longer or look more skin-like. As such, I’m constantly buying and trying new setting powders and sprays. Although I was faithful to a few key staples for many years, I wanted to test out more formulas in 2019. Despite accumulating so many setting products this past year, I’ve been working hard to rotate through my setting products as much as possible.
Given how many formulas I’ve tried and how often I wear makeup, I decided to showcase and rank the items in my collection. So far, I’ve ranked my blushes, bronzers and contours, highlighters, face primers, concealers, and foundations. In today’s post, I’ll be ranking my setting powders and sprays. If you’re an oily-skinned gal or guy, then this may be helpful for you!
Setting Powder Collection
As of this writing, I haven’t tried enough of these setting powders to properly rank because I’ve been working really hard to finish my Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. Nevertheless, please see the items in my collection (in alphabetical order) below:
The Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Mist is technically a facial spray, but I enjoy using this to breathe life into my face whenever my face feels too matte or powdery.
4 | Pixi Beauty – Glow Mist (CF, $15.00 USD) The Pixi Beauty Glow Mist breathes life into my face similar to the Milky Mist but takes it up a notch. It adds a lovely, subtle glow to my skin without making me look greasy.
3 | MAC – Fix+ ($27.00 USD)
MAC’s Fix+ is a well-loved setting spray in my collection that I use to foil shadows and breathe life into my face. This spray melts my powder makeup together in a way that makes my application look and feels skin-like.
The Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray is my most repurchased setting spray and the one that I always recommend to my oily-skinned friends. This fully lives up to the hype and locks makeup in all day or night; however, it does have a strong smell and the product looks unpleasant if you look at the chunks in the bottle.
1 Smashbox – Photo Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray (CF, $32.00 USD) The Photo Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray is a product I never would have purchased on my own but have loved since receiving it from Influenster in 2019. To me, this combines the best of MAC’s Fix+ and Urban Decay’s All Nighter Sprays in an ultra-fine mist that feels like nothing on the skin.
Final Thoughts on My Setting Powder & Spray Collection
I have way too many setting sprays and setting powders and need to drastically cut down on what I have in my collection. Similarly to my concealer and foundation collection, my setting products ballooned this past year as I ventured out to try various formulas and brands. Moving forward, I’d only like to have an under-eye powder, 1-2 face powders, and 3-4 setting sprays.
Disclaimer:I am in no way intending to brag about my beauty collection or to show off any wealth. I work hard to buy what I own and so much of what is in my collection has been purchased at a discount or given to me as a gift. Moreover, these items have been garnered over the years.
