Hi friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve shared a personal update, but a lot has happened over the last five months. As the title of this post might suggest, today’s life update is anything but doom and gloom. Instead, I’m actually feeling hopeful. Keep reading for My Newbury Girl 2020 life update.

Graduation (Friends Forever).
After countless tears, a multitude of team projects, and a mountain of homework, this girl is official has her Masters degree. Despite the ups-and-downs, going back to school provided me with an opportunity to sharpen my skill set as a marketer.
Closing Time.
With the end of my graduate collegiate career comes the end of my current role as a market researcher / consultant at my university. I am grateful for the opportunity to work on campus with such intelligent, diverse coworkers.
And now I’m onto the next chapter. Currently, I am working as a marketing consultant for a beauty brand. Instead of spending time in class, I am spending my time working, applying to full-time roles, taking online certification courses, and remote networking.
High School Never Ends.
But, didn’t I just say I graduate? Being the self-proclaimed nerd that I am, learning never stops. While my classes may have ended, I am finally using my time to finish some free online certifications.
My Heart.
After 2.5 years of beauty blogging, I’ve finally decided to hang up the ropes.
Just kidding.
But my blog is changing. When I initially created my blog, I wanted to have a creative outlet where I could share my love of beauty. However, as I’ve matured and changed, I’ve decided that my blog content needs to evolve with me.
Moving forward, my aim is to continue posting 2-3 times a week with an occasional Sunday post (for my Project Pan updates only). However, the scope of my content will be changing. This blog will still be beauty-focused, but I want to incorporate content beyond reviews.
To prepare for these changes and get myself organized, I’ve decided to take the month off from sharing new content. Instead, I plan to use this month to write new content, shoot photos, create promotional posts and to clean up old work.
I feel at peace with this decision to take a break. Think about it, people who work traditional “9:00 AM – 5:00 PM” jobs go on vacations and sabbaticals. Why can’t bloggers take time off without feeling guilt?
Material Girl.
I am ending my Monthly Low Buy / Monthly Haul series. Although I started this series to be transparent about my buying habits, this series filled me with a ton of anxiety every month. Not only did I feel like the series was prompting me to spend more, but I felt ashamed to “fail” at holding myself accountable.
Also, I began a strict No Buy starting on May 22nd. Given that my income is less steady at this time, I need to follow a strict budget. Makeup-wise, I am trying my hardest not making new purchases at this time. In terms of skincare and haircare, I am trying to finish up all items within a particular category before I purchase anything new.
Name.
To be completely candid, I am currently debating whether I want to change the name of this blog. However, after 2.5 years of blogging, I am unsure if I want to take that next step. If I do make a change, it won’t happen until the end of the year.
I Wanna Get Better.
This summer, I’ve been working really hard to build healthy habits. From meal planning to normal bedtimes, and limited screen time, I am bettering myself every day. I’ve even started nightly yoga practice and morning runs!
Thank U, Next.
Despite going through some difficult times, I am so thankful for the experiences that I’ve had and the people that I’ve met during these last two years. Despite the world’s current woes, I’m feeling hopeful for what the future has to offer. I guess you could say that for a pessimist, I’m pretty optimistic. 😉
…
Kudos to you if you caught all the super cheesy song references in each of my headings within my Newbury Girl 2020 life update. I couldn’t help myself. 😀
