Am I officially a beauty guru now? 😉 Here is a quick round-up of my favorite beauty, lifestyle, and entertainment favorites from this Summer.
The Loveliest in Beauty
Persona Cosmetics | The Identity Palette
Urban Decay | Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette
I hated on the Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette so much when it initially launched, but this has been my most reached for colorful palette of the summer. The shadows are pigmented, blend like butter, and the grungy color range works for a variety of outfits.
The Loveliest in Entertainment, Fashion, & Lifestyle
Ariana Grande | Ariana, everything.
2019 has been the year of Ariana Grande and I’m here for it. As a longtime Ari fan who has been listening to her music since 2012, it has been amazing to see her finally getting the recognition she deserves as a vocalist and badass woman. After ~winning~ tickets to Ari’s show in Boston, this has been the Summer of Ariana Grande.
After seeing Ari in concert, I’ve been listening to all of her albums nonstop and have been falling in love with her music all over again. Her progression as an artist continues to excite and inspire me. AND I’m tired of hearing guys say that Ari’s music is basic because it is dismissive and rude. Period. The complete evolution between Sweetener and Thank U Next will speak to anyone who has experienced falling in and out of love and heartbreak.
Having already owned all of her albums, I picked up some merch from my favorite Italian-American singer. After the show in June, I ordered a “Thank U Next” baseball hat, “Break Up With Your Girlfriend” cropped blush sweatshirt, and a “NASA” T-shirt (purchased via an Etsy shop).
And I’m living my best life.
MMS Designs| Clear Handbag
Across New England, many concerts and sports arenas have changed their bag policies for large events due to major acts of gun violence and terrorism that have occurred in the US and abroad. Previously, purses and large-size totes were allowed at events, but many venues have placed restrictions that mandate bags must be no larger than a clutch and/or must be completely clear. As someone who attends a lot of concerts, I felt it would be smart to pick up a small, clear handbag.
Not only is my clear and blush purse practical, but it is super cute. Although I wish it wasn’t made of plastic, this was inevitable given the restrictions.
More Lovely Music
Jonas Brothers | Happiness Begins
Make fun of me all you’d like but I’ve loved the Jonas Brothers for over a decade. Even when the band split apart, I still followed the brothers on their separate endeavors but was beyond thrilled when they reunited earlier this year. Happiness Begins is the album we’ve been waiting for: a feel-good, pop album that feels and sounds like the brothers, but reflects their growth as people and musicians.
Also, I won’t lie: I actually teared up seeing them in concert this August because of all the memories that are tied to the Jonas Brothers’ songs and videos.
Normani | Motivation
I wasn’t ready for Normani’s Motivation video. Not only does Normani reference classic music video history in her video, but her choreography throughout the video absolutely killed it. The song is always stuck in my head and I’m not mad about it. Can’t wait to see what is on the horizon for Normani as a solo artist.
Big Sean | Single Again
Big Sean’s Single Again is a mood. I love how open and honest this song feels; moreover, I really love the way that Big Sean put a positive spin on breakups and being single. There is a lot of self-reflection in the song. Plus, I have to respect the fact that his talented ex, Jhene Aiko has vocals featured on the track.
