Sephora VIB Sale Haul 2019

Sephora VIB Sale May 2019 | Luxury & Prestige Beauty Haul

Let me level with you: I’ve had my online shopping cart ready since March… in anticipation for the Spring Sale. To be fair, I’ve had quite a lot of time to plan out my purchases AND I have a few gift cards that have been burning a hole in my pocket. However, this will (hopefully) be my last haul until my birthday in the Fall because my spending has been out of control all year.

Please keep reading to see what I snagged at this year’s Spring VIB Sale.

Makeup Buys

Sephora VIB Sale Haul - April 2019 - Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette
Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette | $42.00 USD

When Anastasia Beverly Hills first launched the Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette early in 2018 had little interest in this palette. Although the color story was a beautiful mix of neutral shades, I didn’t feel drawn to the color story. Flash forward to current day and I haven’t been able to get this palette out of my mind. After swatching this in-store, I ultimately decided to pick this up.

Price: $42.00 USD / $33.60 USD

Sephora VIB Sale Haul - April 2019 - Cover FX Monochromatic Blush & Bronzer Duos
Cover FX Monochromatic Blush and Bronzer Duos in Mojave Mauve, Pink Dahlia, and Sunkissed Bronze

Cover FX | Monochromatic Blushes

As I sit here and type this, I’m dying a little on the inside because this was the most extravagant purchase I made during the VIB sale this year. As soon as I saw the Cover FX Monochromatic Blushes and Bronzers advertised on the TrendMood Instagram page, I knew with complete certainty that I’d be picking up at least one of these duos… I’m ashamed to say that I ended up purchasing three of these duos during the sale.

After having a little “swatch party” with my blushes, I realized that I have a ton of neutral blushes, coral blushes, and deep blushes… but I own little to no pink blushes. Needless to say, I when I saw the three lightest duos in this line (and learned that the blushes were Talc Free), all sense of control left my body.

Price: $38.00 USD (each) / $30.40 USD

Sephora VIB Sale Haul - April 2019 - Fenty Beauty by Rihanna
Killawatt Highlighter, Universal Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow, Sun Stalk’r Bronzer

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna | Kilawatt Freestyle Highlighter & Lip Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow Mini Duo

Believe it or not, I’ve yet to try anything from the Fenty Beauty line; however, I’ve often swatched the Kilawatt Freestyle Highlighters in store. After much contemplation, I knew I wanted to take the plunge and try one of the brand’s beloved highlighters. From a gloss perspective, I watched ten videos with reviews, demos, and comparisons of the Fenty Gloss Bombs to try to figure out which of the three shades I’d like to try. Ultimately, I decided on picking up the Mini Face & Lip Set.

Price: $23.00 USD / $18.40 USD (Sale)

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna | Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer in Shady Biz

When I saw the Fenty Bronzers teased on the TrendMood Instagram page, I nearly screamed. Not only am I impressed by the shade range, but the packaging is breath-taking. I had trouble deciding between the two lightest shades in the line, but ultimately went with the shade Shady Biz after comparing swatches to Inda Sun (the lightest shade).

Price: $30.00 USD / $24.00 USD (Sale)

KORRES | Pomegranate Mattifying Primer

A clean beauty primer that promises to mattify the skin and smooth the appearance of pores? Sign me up. Even though I don’t like matte foundations, I do enjoy pairing matte primers with natural or dewy foundations and base products. While I own a few pore-filling primers, I don’t own a true, matte primer. I’ve heard a few YouTubers rave about the KORRES Pomegranate Mattifying Primer, so I’m super excited to add this to my collection.

Price: $33.00 USD / $26.40 USD (Sale)

Milk Makeup | Hydro Grip Primer Mini

Y’all, I have been hyped for this primer since it was teased. As an oily skinned girl, I’m intrigued by products that promise to keep my makeup in place all day. I don’t use many moisturizing primers, but this Hydro Grip Primer looks quite promising.

However, I’ve heard quite a few YouTubers claim that this primer caused breakouts, so I opted to try the mini size of this product before committing to buying the full-size version. (Again, shout out to Milk for making it so easy to try their products without breaking the bank.)

Price: $15.00 USD / $12.00 USD (Sale)

Milk Makeup | Tattoo Stamp

I know what you’re thinking…. this Star Tattoo Stamp from Milk is gimmicky AF…. and it is. BUT I was so intrigued to try this and at the $12.00 USD price point I couldn’t resist.

Price: $12.00 USD/ $10.60 USD (Sale)

TATCHA | The Silk Canvas Protective Primer Mini

The TATCHA Silk Canvas Primer is easily one of the hottest primers of the moment. Everyone and their mother raves about how this primer works wonders on their skin and provides the most flawless base. Given that TATCHA sells this cult-favorite primer in a mini size, I knew I had to try this out for myself.

Price: $22.00 USD / $17.60 USD (Sale)

Sephora VIB Sale Haul - April 2019 - Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette
Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

Urban Decay | Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

When the Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette was first released I did not understand the hype surrounding this launch. The palette packaging seemed cheesy and I wasn’t quite sure about the color story.

However, as time wore on, I found myself more drawn to the muted colors in this palette. To me this palette’s color story is what I would refer to as “approachable” color… meaning that this is a palette that even a non-color wearing eyeshadow lover could get inspiration from or be drawn to. Also, I was impressed by the in-store swatches of this palette, so I knew I had to take this bad boy home with me.

Price: $49.00 USD / $39.20 USD (Sale)

Sephora VIB Sale Haul - April 2019 - Flat Lay

Skincare Buys

IT Cosmetics | Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Eye Cream

I hate myself for loving the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Brightening Eye Cream, but my eyes have been thoroughly missing this product since I finished up the free mini that I received as part of a Sephora 500 Perk set. This eye cream immediately improves the appearance of the under eye for a plumper, brighter, more youthful looking appearance.

Curious about what skin care products from IT Cosmetics are worth the price tag? Check out this comprehensive brand review on some of the brand’s most famous products.

Price: $48.00 USD / $38.40 USD (Sale)

Sol de Janeiro | Coco Cabana Body Fragrance Mist (Mini)

Ever since trying Sol de Janeiro products at Beautycon NYC, I’ve been obsessed with the brand. If my finances allowed for it, I’d probably try the entire line from Sol de Janeiro. Alas, I’m not a millionaire, so I’ve been trying products from the brand here and there.

I already  purchased the larger size Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist at their Beautycon booth (and I’ve been loving it), so I decided to snag the mini of the Coco Cabana Body Fragrance Mist during the VIB Sale. I will caution readers that the Coco Cabana scent is polarizing… wearers either love it or hate it. The smell is noticeably warmer, more coconut-y, and buttery. While I enjoy the smell, some buyers have compared the scent to popcorn (LOL!).

Price: $19.00 USD / $15.2 USD (Sale)

Summer Fridays | Overtime Mask

Is it possible to scroll through the Instagram discover feed without seeing a luxe looking flat lay displaying the Summer Friday masks? Summer Fridays is a brand that so many skincare junkies rave about on social media.

Although the Jet Lag mask is their most hyped product, I decided to snag the Overtime Mask because it seems like a better fit for my skin needs. This mask promises to improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, uneven texture, and pores. Oh, and did I mention that this is certified clean at Sephora?

Price: $44.00 USD / $38.40 USD (Sale)

Supergoop! | Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40

2019 has been the year of sunscreen for me. Rather than repurchasing my beloved Algenist Sublime Defense Sunscreen, I’ve opted to branch out to try new brands this year. So far, I liked the Glossier Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen, feel “meh” about the La Roche-Posay Athelios Clear Dry Touch Sunscreen, and was sorely let down by the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tint. Although I’m getting tired of trying out so many sunscreens, I still want to explore a few more brands. Specifically, I want to try COOLA’s and Supergoop!’s much raved about sunscreens.

The Unseen Sunscreen by Supergoop! promises to be weightless, scentless, and invisible. Very curious to see if this lives up to the hype.

Price: $32.00 USD / $25.60 USD

Final Thoughts

Honestly, I’m proud of myself for thinking critically about (most of) these purchases. Before actually placing my order online (I purchased in-store and ordered a few items online), I removed five or six products from my cart and swapped out two full-sized products for a mini bundle. Also, I removed items that were total duplicates in my collection that would have essentially become backups.

There are very few items I’d categorize as *splurges* (cough, cough Cover FX & Anastasia Beverly Hills). Most items I purchased actually fill a gap in my collection or serve a purpose. This will be my last large haul until my birthday / Christmas approaches (Spoiler: I do have a drug store Haul scheduled, but those items were all purchased earlier this year at random times.)

  1. I love how well thought out your purchases have been, a lot of influencers don’t actually put thought into it and so it’s great to see how conscious you are about it. Girl most of these are purchases I’m tempted by but I also don’t have a Sephora near me😭 please let us know how the milk make up primer works on your oily skin because I want to try it too but don’t want to invest if it doesn’t help or work. I can’t wait to see all of these products used and the looks you create with them!

    1. Oh girl – I will definitely provide a recap on the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip. I’m planning to do another Milk Makeup review roundup. 💜

And thank you so much – I’m slowly but surely, trying to reduce my spending and be better about what I purchase.

  2. Your pictures are gorgeous, LP! Love them and I loved seeing your haul. I am pretty sure I have a spare Bye Bye Undereye and I REALLY need it, so I really need to find it asap. This was a good reminder. It truly does make a difference. Enjoy all your goodies! ♥️

  3. These products all look so good! I wish there was a Sephora in NZ. I would love to invest in some Fenty beauty products, as I’ve heard so many positive reviews about them! I also really like how you thought through the products carefully before purchasing! I feel like that is something I need to work on!!

    1. Aw thank you – I definitely need to be better about how I spend my money though. And OMG I had no idea that Sephora wasn’t in NZ – but that actually makes sense since Sephora is still newer to / smaller in Australia, too (compared to their presence in the US / EU).

      1. It saddens me so much that Sephora isn’t here – but whenever I find Sephora when I’m travelling I just spend up and stock up!! There are so many products there that I love!!

  4. I really want to try the Summer Fridays mask as well! Sadly I’m not able to get to the Sephora US site (since there’s a new European law) so I can’t enjoy the VIB sale! But I might actually just order it from the Sephora France website lol! I love your haul so much 😍

    1. Oh wow – thank you so much for this thoughtful comment! I apologize for the delayed response – I’ve been playing catch-up with my blog now that my semester is over.

The blushes are so gorgeous – it’s crazy how quickly they sold out at Sephora! They’re definitely one of the most hyped up product lines that Cover FX has released.

And thank you so much for the follow. I’ve followed you back! 💜

  6. I love that there were so many great deals from the Sephora sale! The savings add up when you store your stash, hehe. I love the haul you bought from the sale. You got a little bit of everything. The tattoo stamp looks interesting, and I wouldn’t mind trying it out for the same price as well. If it was 2-3x, I would think again. OOHHH YESSSS! Masks are the best!! With summer coming up, having some sunscreen is extra important, not just for your body, but for your face as well. I like that you gave all of these picks some thoughts as well! Thanks for sharing your haul!

  7. Ahhh! So much pretty makeup. 😍 I neeeed to try anything from the Fenty brand but especially that lip gloss. UD probably has my fave eyeshadow formula but I only own singles– I need one of their palettes! & I’ve never even tried ABH’s eyeshadows, but I’ve been dying to.

I have two Sol de Janeiro’s body butters (orange & blue) but haven’t opened up them because I’m afraid of the scent. You’re the first review I’ve that actually likes it… & you’re kinda swayin’ me to give it a shot!

    1. So I plan to do a full review on all the Fenty goodies I bought, but I can’t like… the Gloss Bomb is literally my favorite lip gloss of all time…. Like now I want the full size in all the shades lol! UD used to be my Ride or Die when it came to eyeshadows, but lately ABH and ColourPop have been formulas I’ve reached for more.

The Orange Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream (orange) is more of a traditional cream with a sweet, coconut scent whereas the Coco Cabana body butter is more of a gel-cream with a warmer, buttery scent. Personally, I think that the Coco Cabana leaves more of a lasting hydration to the skin, BUT I will say that it tingles (almost stings) when first applied (I think maybe due to the Cupuacu butter ingredient). Many people hate the Coco Cabana cream for the tingling sensation and the scent which is sometimes described as too overpowering and reminiscent of popcorn. Personally, I love it (it reminds me of the Physican’s Formula Butter Bronzer) and I’ve gotten compliments every time I’ve worn this out in public.

I’d say if you’re curious about trying Sol de Janeiro, but don’t want to crack into your samples if you think you won’t like the scent – check out the brand in-store at Sephora first to see what you think about the smell! Also, Sephora gives out free samples so you could def ask for a sample of the Coco Cabana cream to see how your skin reacts! OR try the Bum Bum Cream first because that is the cult favorite product that really launched Sol de Janeiro and built their cult following.

      1. So many bloggers are claiming the Fenty gloss as their new ultimate fave! I noticed there aren’t that many shades out so it’s not that crazy to want each one! Colourpop & ABH are also on my must-try list. It’s hard to imagine I’ll like anything more than UD but I can’t wait to see. 😀

Thanks for your tips!! I am curious about the tingling sensation & honestly would probably enjoy it but, I’m super sensitive to scents. Such a good idea to sniff them at Sephora first! ❤

  8. So many amazing goodies!!! The Fenty gloss bomb is amazing, I hope you like it! Also dying to get my hands on the soft glam palette, I bought two (norvina and Rivera) both within the last 5 months and now love ABH! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the born to run palette, I have it but honestly never reach for it! xxx
