Glossier is the indie It-brand worn by the effortlessly beautiful, known for their no-makeup makeup looks, holy grail skincare products, and minimalist, millennial packaging. But is it really worth the hype?
Please keep reading today’s post for an overview of the brand’s ordering and shipping process, as well as a haul of what I purchased.
Ordering & Ship Time
First thing’s first, if you are new to Glossier, you should not be paying full price! The brand gives you the option to receive 10% off your first purchase when you provide your email address. If you don’t want to provide your email there are a bevy of beauty influencers online with codes you can apply to your purchase.
Orders over $30.00 USD ship for free, which is quite low compared to other online order minimums. Glossier ships to the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, and France.
As soon as I opened my package, I was sucked in by the brand. My package came in a normal looking brown box with a blush pink inside that was imprinted with a cute saying:
Skin First. Makeup Second. Smile Always.
However, I realized just how trendy Glossier is when I saw the minimalist, pink-hued ziplock bag that held all the products in my order. Included within each order are stickers, a postcard, and a free sample. These minor additives, particularly the postcard, added a personal touch that I appreciated.
Purchases & Claims
Cloud Paints Duo in Beam & Dusk
Glossier’s Cloud Paint promises to be “the most user-friendly cheek color in existence.” The gel-cream formula is supposed to provide a sheer wash of color that can be easily built up just using your fingers. The color range, inspired by NYC sunsets, is meant to work across a wide range of skin tones to provide a healthy glow-from-within flush to the cheeks.
I purchased the shades Dusk and Peach, a brownish nude and soft peach. I am so excited to see how these wear on me and how the colors mix together.
Price: $30.00 for a duo ($18 individually)
Lidstar Glistening Eye Glow Duo in Slip & Lily
Glossier’s Lidstar is a cream shadow with a glossy finish that promises to light up the eyes with a wash of twinkling color. The lidstar shadows can be worn on their own or mixed together to create a dazzling eye look. Glossier promises that the formula will last for 12 hours without creasing or smudging even when worn without primer.
The shadows are meant to be applied with a doe-foot applicator but can be patted onto the lid with a finger. I purchased the colors, Slip and Lily.
Price: $30.00 USD for a duo ($18 individually)
The Glossier Lip Gloss promises to be the perfect lip gloss: clear, high-shine, without any sticky or gritty texture. Furthermore, the formula promises to be hydrating with Vitamin E.
Even though lip gloss may be considered a summer staple, I’m excited to give this product a go.
Price: $14.00 USD
Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35
The Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen promises to provide sun protection without the leaving an icky, greasy feeling or a white cast on the face. Supposedly this sunscreen will protect the skin from free-radical damaged caused pollutants. While Glossier claims that this product is for all skin types, the water-gel formula seems particularly great for oily-skinned individuals, like me.
Glossier claims that the sunscreen is hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested, non-comedogenic, paraben free, vegan and cruelty-free. However, this sunscreen is NOT waterproof. If you intend to hit the beach or the pool. please opt for a water-resistant formula
Price: $25.00 USD
I’ve been testing the above products for several weeks and so far, I’ve been impressed enough to want to try more from this brand. However, I want to try out these products a little longer before I share my final thoughts.
